I tried liking VNs, I just can't. I tried playing Higurashi - somehow completed Chapter 1 then got horribly bored with Chapter 2.

Actually I should finish watching the anime... I stopped over at Episode 3 or 4. I can't remember if it was prowler that told me to watch it or not, though!

probably. if you're not going to play the VN, the anime will do. its one of the very few animes I'd recommend really.

Yeah, pretty sure it was you. Shame on me for not having finished watching it after 3-4 years  Anyway, yeah, I'll probably try to watch it over Christmas.

One more question: is this a VN with multiple choices or do I have to keep reading and reading without any chance for me to influence the course of history?

For the most part, you can reply to messages, which gives you small amounts of dialog, but doesn't really change anything significant, other than a very specific set of choices leading to the true end. (and good luck figuring out those without a guide) There are some major plot decisions, but really those are just either get an alternative end or continue the main plot. That said the visual novel changes course of history by itself, even without choices :P

Also worth noting that like the entire first half of both the VN and anime is setup, and it takes a long time to get to the really good parts. Those are worth it, though.

There is multiple choices. I can't remember how many endings there are, it's a few anyway.

Though I have to say, I wouldn't let Higurashi influence you on picking up another visual novel. It's like 100000 years old and it is mostly those die hard fans that pop up now and again that really care about it. It's not a good starter VN at all.

Oh, I played it something like 4 years ago on my (then) iPhone 4. Back then Higurashi was "kinda" new :P

Gambia, The
Day 1 for me! :)
But there are even more Visual Novels that should be localized. For example Kaihou Shoujo SIN (Liberation Maiden SIN).

If you wanna be really technical, Steins;Gate has already been out for years on the PS3 and Vita; it's just the first English release on those consoles. There's also been an official release on the PC in English. Frankly I can't understand the desire to play VNs on a home console when a PC port is available, but a proper English portable version is excellent. Steins;Gate is excellent. Hell, I'll buy it again just in the hopes that it shows that people really do want good sci-fi VNs.

I don't understand why they haven't published the game in any digital store where people usually buy stuff and could actually find it. Talking about Steam, GOG, Amazon, GMG, Humble, etc.

Vita seems to be definitely best choise. Assets aren't full HD anyway and in handheld form it's much easier to pick it up and play more like a book. On regular console VN just seems so...off, but of course it will be perfectly playable as all you basically need is one button.
