My friend want to sell his psp 2000 to me, I note the date code 8c, is this any good, I only know the basics, any can help please?

What information are you looking for?
You can easily install a custom firmware on any model of PSP. http://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-softmod-hack-your-psp.293978/
Some people prefer the 3000s screen, some the 2000. If the price is right then buy it
