Yes but there is no need at all, just carry on with the euro release. If you don't want to lose your progress either in the Japan rom then put your personal header on the Japan SSB release and when the euro one comes out then just put the same header in your euro SSB rom and away you go, no loss of progress!
No the header I am on about, it will work with your 3DZ rom save as long as you use a euro header and inject it into the Japan SSB rom it will then carry on your progress/save injecting it into the euro SSB rom. It does work I have my own UK 4GB header inserted into my Japan SSB rom now and it works 110% and will do on the euro version upon release
maybe with mario kart they not not region free, but unless you try every single game, don't rule it out
Remember when you inject your personal header into the SSB rom you are creating a 3DZ rom not a 3DS rom, which in turn creates its own save file as you know for the 3DZ conversion so when you inject the same header into the euro SSB release it will be the same conversion a 3DZ save file not 3DS so which will work along side the euro SSB rom. Trust me it will work as long as that UK header works with the Japan release then it will work with the UK SSB release as well
