DOOM has been ported to the retro game console in Persona 5 Royal

DOOM is well-known for being ported to basically every device with some kind of input, and that list now includes the old retro game console in Persona 5 Royal. Modders KingJackSkellington and Xan1242 released the DOOMsona mod today, that lets you buy the shareware version of the original DOOM at the second-hand store in Yongen-Jaya. DOOM is fully playable and, like the other games Joker can play in his room, will grant the player a social stat upgrade when they're finished (in this case, his guts will increase) and prompt commentary from Morgana before and after playing.

The mod includes the WAD file for the shareware version of Doom, as well as for FreeDOOM and Chex® Quest, a promotional video game released by General Mills in the '90s based on Ultimate Doom. Upon completing the shareware DOOM, which only comes with the first episode, the player can purchase a full copy of Ultimate DOOM from the same store; however, since this game is still being sold commercially, the WAD file isn't included with the mod and the player must provide their own.

DOOMsona also supports any PWAD that is compatible with Chocolate DOOM, a source port of the original DOOM that aims for historical accuracy and adherence to the experience of playing DOOM as it originally released.

Actually, I'm pretty much done listening to your babble. DOOM is a game that gets ported so many times and I won't deny that.

But this doesn't mean I enjoy it, not only because I'm bad at FPS games, but... ugh. I don't even wanna tell at this point.
Look at me! Look at me!
I don't like DOOM in Persona 5, and my opinion is the only one that matters!
Look at me!
Hey, did you look at me yet?!
Look at me! /s

i owned maniac mansion on nes but when day of tenacle came out on mac and was in a lucasgames bundle i was so pumped to play day of the tentacle. i never beat the game or progressed passed finding the computer that u could play maniac mansion and just played that for hours. good reminder for me to go back to day of the tentacle and beat it finally.

Unfortunately the whole transfer items mechanic is horrible and for people used to "Try everything until something works" it makes the game a pain. The game is still fun using a guide but by the tentacle there is a reason no other popular game ever had copied the tranfer items using the time machine all the time deal.

Awesome!!! Game in game is one great idea.

Soon anytime we will able to play Doom 3 game in game (not sure which title) will have in near future.

Remember Doom 3 was release for Windows 2000 / XP running on single CPU 1.5 GHz, 384 MB RAM, 2 GB storage hard drive/SSD and GPU 64 MB VRAM.

When gaming computer become more powerful means PC game will have another game added inside as add feature list we can play more and more games!

 :yay:

No, the label/sticker is the PAL style.

Ahh, you're right. I only double checked with the Doom cartridge, so I didn't notice the label, since they look pretty similar:

It's clearly the PAL version in the screenshots, which really is odd. A PAL/NTSC-U hybrid SNES cartridge in a Japanese styled Famiclone...

I've bought Persona 5 so many times now that I really don't care. I thought when I got Royale that would be it, there would be no more versions, or at least they would give us a free upgrade. But nope, the next gen Royale is an entire seperate purchase. Have to draw the line somewhere, I'm not made of money.

They haslve dedicated on board chips that aren't tweaked like x64/x32 afaik
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
but its a custom os for both of them

    designed for only specific hardware
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
so you have to learn to emulate that specific hardware which isn't as easy as you'd think

It's a locked down Linux distro basically
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think the only custom hardware is to do with the SSD and a security chip
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Probably combined in one chip

They place married security chips onto boards iirc

Didn't see much need for a console, all the advantages have kind of disappeared
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
the ps3 used to support installing linux because the cpu was so powerful
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Then the games are $70 and they want to reboot and refresh the same game every year
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
The ps3 was always Linux they just found a way to make it open source
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
I'm avoiding buying from the big 3 at all atm

At one point PC game pads where poorly supported, loading a game had setup, it was complicated. Now it's almost as easy as a console.
