I see that when something that I notice that gets barely used nowadays gets talked about a lot when the company surrounding said product announces that they're going to discontinue said product. Something that I love to ask is: Why do people get mad when said thing happens when the majority of people started to use other services and only a select few don't?

A good example of this was the Nintendo Network, where a good chunk of the Nintendo fanbase was sticking to the Switch and whatnot, and the 3ds/WiiU, while definitely were still getting used, the announcement of its cancellation, suddenly sparked widespread outcry from not only those select people, but even modern fans of Nintendo. Yeah I can understand why it's a bad idea to cancel it given the fact that it's another service that is losing official support to either be forgotten forever (Games for Windows Live) or have partial modded support (Pretendo/Wiimfi) and for data/game preservation, it's detrimental to forget all those digital games that may never see the light of day, but why do these people only come out when the announcement happens, and in some cases, why do people wait until the very end to host services where they want to preserve such things when there's already not much time left? (SpotPass Archival Project)

Not just for Nintendo, but another one that I know that also affected this was when WordPad, a free word for Windows pretty much, has been slated for removal in the Windows 11 24H2 update. I remember hearing about this back in 7 to even remember using it, but I have been used to Word/LibreOffice (to some extent) and yet people are still mad.
If someone can tell me if there's more to this (or if there's some information that I have gotten wrong here), please tell me as I am very confused.

Whoa, I didn’t hear about WordPad being removed. Back when I was regularly working on my PSP and Wii, I would need WordPad because the way it properly formatted .txt files. If I opened (say) a config file, in notepad, then the file would not save the format properly and the newly edited file will not load. Using WordPad was the only text editor that would usually work.

Note: I say formatting. That just means text spacing, margins, and the like.

Yeah, WordPad is getting removed in the 24h2 update, but hey you'll be stuck with 23h2 regardless if you have used programs like start all back. If it helped with formatting things, then I can understand by it having some good use for it! Notepad is really just a basic Text editor. Similar to how Sticky notes worked in Windows 7.

No one likes to see the things they like to be gone, just putting it that simply. That being said, I do miss Yoshiart.com if anyone still knows that site

Never heard of that site in my life. Although when you do mention it, it does make me wish that the old Terraria Fourms (TerrariaOnline) still exist
