Hi.

My left joy con's analog sometimes keeps moving for a little when I go left with it. It's not drifting by default it just keeps going for a bit when sometimes moving left (in that direction).

Anyone know an easy fix to this?

Get a thin piece of cardboard, or a small square piece of that thick, cushiony kind of tape, or simply fold up some paper, and place it under the bottom of the analog stick. All that matters is that there is just a bit of added pressure when you close the case, without you having to squeeze it with your hands...

So it's joy con drift even if it doesn't do it by default?

This would fix it in this case too you think?
I would guess cardboard would be more durable than paper?

nintendo will repair them free of charge. i got all 4 of mine done for free
I would take this option but then I'd be without a joycon for a while. I'm considering the cardboard fix if I could do it myself quicker.

I wonder what would be the easiest material to get that would last.

You don't need to think about the material "lasting". All it's doing is taking up space so that there's pressure on the back of the stick. If you don't want to send it in for repair, your case is a good candidate. A *really* messed up stick won't be fixed this way. Did you even watch the video? There are others that go into more detail on why it works if you want to google....

I don't 'think' it's really messed up.

But yeah I mean, if it works well enough I don't mind doing this method. I do wonder how nintendo fixes them.

Try spraying some contact cleaner inside the joystick. If that doesn't help just replace it. The joystick assembly is dirt cheap on aliexpress, less than $1 if you buy in bulk. Don't bother disassembling the joystick, it's a pain in the ass to but everything back and the metal clip breaks after folding like 2 times.

What are you using the assembly for if you aren't taking off the joystick?

What I meant is just replace the joystick assembly:

And don't waste your time disassembling it. Tried taking off the back metal cover and clean the carbon contacts, it's very hard to put everything back together since there's a spring inside. Also the metal clips are very brittle.

I don't have problem disassembling the sticks, cleaning and put all in place.

after cleaning all terminals, put a tiny piece of foamy under the metal terminal to keep it up to prevent bad contact with carbon contacts.

I do it this the last year, today don't have any drift problem

Can't do much harm, if you were going to replace the stick anyway, it doesn't matter if you destroy it.

I have the same problem, joycon only want to go in the right direction, but often in menu while not in games (or at least way less).
For example in Metroid Dread I am not having any issue.
I had drift in the past and replaced joycon, this time it doesn't seem the same..
Since I have a spare analogue I even tried replacing it, but the problem persisted.

Calibrating the joycon doesn't give the feeling is drifting, everything seems normale, but then I go back in the menu and problem is back.

I had just now read another guy with similar problem... I am starting to thinking it's not drift but maybe some software issue related to the update.

That would be a pretty big leap. Not going to say it’s impossible that it’s update related but I will say improbable. If it were I would expect a metric pantload of peeps who have all upgraded to latest to all have the same issue. There hasn’t been a spike in occurrences…just the same background noise of frustration and dissatisfaction with Ninty joycon drift.

e: do you mean a specific update for one game? I might could go for that.

No, I do mean system update.. I know it seems unlikely, but sweeping GBA in this two recent discussion (this thread and https://gbatemp.net/threads/controller-analog-stick-moving-by-itself-but-not-joy-con-drift.610413/) we are now complaining about a different kind of drift.

I already had drifting joycon in the past but never of these kind. It was always a matter of inaccurate positioning, the calibration was always showing a trembling movement. Here nothing is happening when I try to calibrate, everything seems fine. I get back in the menu and the analogue start to move all way right. In some games I have no problem at all (metroid) while in Breath of the wild I have some phantom movement...

I used to drink alcohol fairly often. Never to the point of it being a problem, but like 2-3 beers with dinner each night, or a few cocktails or glasses of Scotch or something. Started smoking/vaping weed a lot a few years back which killed 90% of my interest in booze. Now I stopped smoking/vaping weed as much and just deal with life the boring way most of the time

Spoke to Tom Fulp the other day, if he can find his old Newgrounds site content like the mini Flash animations from the 2000's that played on the portal.

So far no response, but he did say that he'll find them. Wayback Machine doesn't have em.

@SylverReZ, atleast the 1999 versión of pico's school is avaliable (the difference between it, the 2006 versión and the 2016 versión is that the speed of the game depends of the speed of your computer and that it had the og soundtrack)

@Xdqwerty, Another being Pico VS Bear, the original 1999 version before Jim Henson filed a DMCA takedown.

@SylverReZ, although the "secrets" system where the game was has been removed. Also pico vs uberkids had a netplay versión that was shutdown, although the swf file has been found
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Nope. There are two download buttons on the same page, where you can download the original under a file called "bear.exe". "bear2.exe", however, is the updated game in a Flash projector. P.s. this was on the archived Pico page from 2000.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
