Has anyone had any issues with the DSiWare 'Dragon Quest Wars'?

I got the CIA converted to NDS via ctrtool, and then installed it as a System Title via TMFH. The game shows up in the regular launcher and starts up, but says 'There is not enough free space to save.'

I've got a 2GB SD card, and it's got plenty of space left. I've got Unlaunch 1.9 and the 1.3.3 update for HiyaCFW.

Cave Story and Shantae, Risky's Revenge work fine, is it just an issue with this title?

Sounds like you're using an outdated version.
Please update, and just launch a GB(C) ROM using TWLMenu++ itself, which will then launch GameYob.

For games, should I get a flashcart or an sd card? If flashcart, are there any recommendations for what's on the market in 2020,and where? If Sd card, should I purchase an sdhc or sdxc card, and would there be a size limit? Thank you!

For the most part just using the SD will be fine, if you want to be sure the games you want to play work you can check the nds-bootstrap compatibility list, flashcards do still have better compatibility with a few games and older homebrew though. Any size SD is fine as long as their formatted as FAT-32 (ideally with 32KB clusters), however there isn't much reason to go beyond 32GB, even that should be more than enough.

For flashcards, nds-card.com is a good site, they ship worldwide with free shipping to the USA at least, though shipping is expensive to some places. The R4i Gold 3DS Plus is what I've usually seen called the best card now, but its out of stock on nds-card.com so you'll need to either wait until it comes back in stock (which may be a long time) or try other sites, but I'm not sure of any I know are good that have it personally... The r4isdhc.com cards aren't good, their stock kernel has a timebomb and is overall pretty bad, but they are cheap and alright with YSMenu or TWiLight Menu++. The DSTT is can also do YSMenu and TWiLight and is a bit cheaper, but requires Unlaunch installed to work on DSi.

To use makeforwarder, is there a specific file structure needed or settings that can't be enabled to get it to work? I seem to be freezing whenever a game tries to save, but I have set up the rom/bootstrap/save route. Tested with Elite beat agents, Dk jungle climber (freezes when entering level 2), and Starfox command.

With Twilightmenu++, is there any way to show games on the first menu without having your roms on the root of your sd?

Lastly, does anyone else get static/whitenoise after playing "Electroplankton" for a little while? It's the only game I had any issue with, everything else worked flawlessly.

I don't know how makeforwarder works, so I can't say.

Just go into the location with the ROMs, and launch one.

See if enabling "Expand ROM space in RAM" to "Yes" in TWLMenu++ Settings fixes it.

Hi guys.

I have a 1.4.1U Nintendo DSi with Unlaunch+hiyaCFW+TwilightMenu++ and a R4iTT purple card with a screw in the back. I have kept the console's software in 1.4.1 to this day because of the R4 card. So...

Is it possible to perform a System Update over the hiyaCFW's SD NAND? And besides being possible, would you guys recommend doing such thing?

Also, I have some DSiWare titles installed into the hiyaCFW's DSI Menu, and I've read that it's not recommended to do that. What's the limit of DSiWare installed titles on hiya CFW?

And, well... is it also possible to install DSiWare games on the sysNAND?

Thanks in advance.

Hiya's SDNAND can't be updated as the patches are made specifically for the 1.4 launcher that it uses. There's basically no reason to update though, afaik all that was added after 1.4 was blocking more flashcards.

Also, I have some DSiWare titles installed into the hiyaCFW's DSI Menu, and I've read that it's not recommended to do that. What's the limit of DSiWare installed titles on hiya CFW?
Its fine to install DSiWare, that's basically the whole reason hiya exists, the limit is 39 titles (including system titles and the cartridge) and 20MB in the 00030004 folder, if you use TMFH to install as system titles though then there is no size limit.

And, well... is it also possible to install DSiWare games on the sysNAND?
Not safely, there is a way but currently all apps that can write files to NAND always cause it to corrupt as they don't write the FAT copies correctly. This usually doesn't immediately have negative consequences but makes Unlaunch unable to install and is just not a good thing to do. You can also restore a NAND backup but that's bad as it writes over the whole NAND and the DSi's NAND is very cheap and tends to die after just a few NAND backup restores so that's not a good idea either, also the existing tools don't error check like at all so it's very easy to mess up. Just use TWiLight or hiyaCFW if you want DSiWare.

Ok, I won't mess with system updates at all, then.

Alright, that's just everything I needed to know. I also wanted to know about NAND restoring, and that stuff. Thank you very, very much for your help. :)

Have a great day!

It's been a few weeks, but does Hiyacfw add extra time to boot when you have twilightmenu++ set as your default, or only when going into the ds home screen? Is there anyway to disable it to compare launch times? To my understanding, hiya creates an emunand that runs off your sd, which provides an extra layer of protection in case I mess anything up. But would it be safe to just rely on unlauncher?

2. Has there been any stress testing as to how many titles can be in a single folder in twilight? I put all my games in a single folder (nearing 300), so I just wanted to be sure I wouldn't cause any issues. I know if I scroll too fast while in the gameboy theme it'll freeze.

3. Does enabling Dsi icon animation slow loading times?

4. Does twilight support region-locked Dsiware on different region consoles?

Tested (makeforwarder) with Elite beat agents, Dk jungle climber (freezes when entering level 2), and Starfox command.
If anyone was curious, the games I had issue with have 2mb saves, and games I've gotten to work (Kirby canvas curse, New Super Mario Bros) had 64kb saves. File structure/placement didn't matter. I haven't messed with it too throughly, so that might not actually be related.

1. Yes, hiyaCFW adds extra boot time. Also, to skip hiyaCFW, hold A+B after pressing POWER, and select TWLMenu++.
2. Not that I know of.
3. No.
4. That's on Unlaunch's side. Haven't tested out of region DSiWare.

Would there be any concerns if I were to try it, or it'd likely just freeze? Wanted to see if I can't thumb my way through Korogashi Puzzle - Katamari Damacy.
