[RUMOUR] YouTube coming to the Switch?

upload_2018-11-3_13-0-12.png

For those on the latest firmware, the Switch has little to offer in terms of multimedia entertainment. Currently limited to just the Hulu app (and the niconico app on the Japanese eShop), things may be about to change if Nintendo enthusiast NintendoHOME is to be believed. Claiming to have seen a notification of the app's arrival for the 8th of November, it spells hope for those wanting more than just a games system.

This should be taken with a reasonable degree of uncertainty, with images easy to fake and myself not being able to locate any further information. You can check out the translated tweet below, and find the original via the source link.
❓ Rumour – The YouTube app is expected to arrive soon on Nintendo Switch, especially on November 8th if you believe the Nintendo America website.
Do you think it's real? Are you still waiting for Netflix before updating your Switch? Let us know below!

ikr, when you will be stuck somewhere in a game...
It'll be annoying to save, close the game, open youtube, then close youtube, open the game, just to realise...
what did the playthrough said already???

That was one of the aspects I loved from the Wii U! It's called convenience I know I have a phone and all that but i like to do things on the device I'm playing on.

Do you not own a phone capable of YouTube? That seems a lot more practical for what you want.

I agree. Yesterday I used the Wii U gamepad to watch the news while cleaning my kitchen. It's nice to have that level of convenience.

If the Switch doesn't get it, there is no loss, because everyone literally has at least one portable device to watch YT videos on, do they not? They should at least add Netflix instead of being timid pantywaists about it.

I've owned a smartphone since like, 2012, so uh, I'm not exactly deprived of YT capable devices. We have a PS3 and PS4, Wii and Wii U, I think we're covered on Netflix capable devices as well. Nintendo is just too cowardly to release either app on the Switch for some half-assed reason.

Right, they're being timid little wieners about it. Hackers will do what Nintendont.

"But muh security!"
Off-topic :
Well, with some of those new security measure they put on Switch
I'm a bit shy about hacking mine
I won't do it for a long while, not before theres a real noob-friendly guide
Also, if I were to hack it, it must be worth the effort

Also, I'll probably wait for the second wave of hacking like I did with 3ds.
With 3ds, I didn't hack it on FW 4.1-4.5
I waited for 9.0-9.2

I don't even have the motivation to hack my Switch, for a variety of reasons on which I don't feel like having to explain. To me, it's not worth the trouble.

Having a backup of your save games is reason enough to hack your console, that's what I did. Now my BOTW and XC2 hours are safe <3

Risking not going online and getting banned, not to mention the fact that there are so many ways to hack it, so many unconsolidated methods/guides, it's too damn confusing. Emulators are still in their infancy and many don't run full speed yet. I'd rather just wait a super long time *shrug*. It just not worth it to me, and that's my take on it. Make with that what you will. I can easily back up my saves to my PC by copying from my SD card.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
