I don't want to browse all of the pages, please forgive and forget my laziness today.

Could someone tell me, is it known if this is a a side game, or a main entry (Red, Ruby, Moon, ect)?

You can live in denial if you want, the reality is if the features do well, and Let's Go sells well, then those features will end up on Gen 8, that is a fact, take it to the bank.
That's not a fact, that's speculation. Pokemon games always sell well, and again, there's no chance of Let's Go outselling the top grossing games because there simply aren't enough Switches out there yet. The 2019 games might have a big enough audience to compete for a top spot, but Switch would probably have to be on pace to tie or beat Wii sales.

That's the point of the game, to get enough switches out there. This game is aiming to be a Console Seller, which it likely will. Pokemon sells systems. Systems don't sell Pokemon :P.

3DS games were $60, weren't they? Clearly the price tag is not based on quality of graphics.

Really? I thought most people would go for the Eevee version since Pikachu was the only one available in Yellow originally. Plus, I can't be the only one with Pikachu fatigue after all these years of him being the mascot for the entire IP. Always preferred Raichu.
All Pokemon DS and 3DS pokemon games were $40 MSRP

That's the point of every game they release for Switch, but I still don't expect some astronomical increase of hardware sales from this game alone. Especially given how divisive the new catching mechanics are sure to be.

Oh, fair enough. So maybe the MSRP does change with quality of graphics.

Right I know what 3d means, and 2d, and we have not had any New 2D Mario games. They evolved, just like Pokemon is doing now.

Also new Super Mario U, having bad sales had nothing to do with the game, the console had crap sales man lol. Super Mario Odyssey is already over 10m sales, it's doing fine.
bad sales? lol it was the second best selling title on wiiu, just becuase wiiu sold poorly that doesnt make the game having bad sales since even on wiiu with extremely poor sales it sold more than 5 million units at retail, not to mention its expansion super luigi U sold 2.5 million units too. Only lost to mario kart, new super mario bros wii ecplipsed both super mario galaxy games too, they always sell much more than most nintendo games only loosing to mario kart.

we have new super mario bros wii, new super mario bros ds, new super mario bros 2 3ds, new super mario bros u and super mario maker too, seriously this are all 2d mario games released on every console and all top 5 sellers n each system they were released, so dont go around saying there arent any 2d mario games when wiiu got 2 and 3ds got 2 also...

and my point stands nintendo didnt dropped 3d mario games in favor of 2d ones since they sell more since wii and ds days.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

All Pokemon DS and 3DS pokemon games were $40 MSRP
well here in europe they were all 45 euros :S

Still not sure about that price considering they cut out a whopping 651 Pokemon out of the game, took out wild battles, have models that looks like they belong in a 3ds pokemon games and still charge $20 more dollars just for being on a home console

The models are at least 720p, so if you put them on a 3DS you'd get 1-3 FPS and it would still look like 240p. Definitely too early to judge if its worth the price based on graphics and the catching mechanic alone, we have yet to see how they've remade the actual content of Yellow. Could it be cheaper? Yes, but so could all AAA games. $48 with the Amazon discount is good enough for me.

As for going back to 151, some people will like it and some will hate it. I do think we were at the point of too many Pokemon once they started putting eyes on lamps and ice cream cones, though.

The models /look/ like they belong in a 3ds pokemon game, of course high poly models won't work well on a 3ds because the switch is significantly powered than the 3ds, everyone knows this, doesn't excuse the fact that it looks like a 3ds pokemon title running on citra in HD

lets be honest here, they could have made it a new 3ds exclusive like fire emblem warriors and dumbed the resolution abit and i bet it would run just fine.

It's to be expected that they'd use the same engine for a game set to release this quickly after US/UM. Otherwise we'd be looking at the first Switch Pokemon game in 2019 and the next in 2020.

So you agree it looks like an upscaled 3ds game?

It's using the same engine, so yeah it looks like a 3DS game if 3DS was actually capable of HD graphics output. Big upgrade, far sharper image. As I did state earlier though, upscaling is never going to look as good as increasing the native texture resolution.

Still not convinced its worth the $60 price tag because like I said "they cut out a whopping 651 Pokemon out of the game, took out wild battles, have models that looks like they belong in a 3ds pokemon games and still charge $20 more dollars just for being on a home console" I'll most likely skip this, visiting kanto for the fifth time isn't exciting for me, I'll be fine waiting until 2019 for the gen 8 (assuming they'll do a good job on it which I really hope they do), do tell me how the games end up being like when it comes out and you buy it and get to play it though :)

Yeah if you're not digging it that's fine, but I think it'll be enjoyable enough to hold me over until the next release. There are also a couple third-party games in development for Switch very similar to Pokemon, so they'll probably release in-between.

I did give Pokemon GO another try today and I was pleasantly surprised by some of the QoL updates it has had, particularly weather affecting encounter rate for different types. I wouldn't mind that making it's way into mainline Pokemon games, whether it's based on local conditions or just random. The distribution of Pokemon in non-city areas seems much better too, the game even had many local trails mapped out where it didn't before. The quests were also much needed as additional objectives. It's still very much a casual game, but as a simple walking/jogging assistant it does keep you engaged and motivated. I caught an Anorith and Natu on my 45 minute hike, which I was very happy about since those are a couple of my favorite Pokemon.

So pokemon Go 2.0, wow this looks really bad and I understand this is for kids but it almost has a pre school thing to it and nothing for the older fans.
Are you kidding me?

Even though the gameplay didn't age well at all, I miss the simplicity of Gen 1. Didn't have to worry about natures, shinies, eevee and ivy training, time of day / day of week / time locked events, seasons affecting captures and evolutions, having to find in-game places with natural weather to trip an evolution, having to turn the console upside down to make an evolution happen? Having to deal with wild encounters with infinite PP, trainers with infinite items... the ungodly pursuit to try and get Shinies because that's the only way to get trades to complete anymore?

Yes, I will agree, I could do without the incessant tie-ins to Pokemon Go. But the fact that I can take my favorite with me in the pokeball controller off-game and still be able to attend to them? To be able to hear its coos and cries interacting with it via the pokeball?

It reminded me of my better times with Gen 1, where I had a Jolteon that not only carried me through the Elite 4 of Kanto, but through about 80% of Pokemon Stadium on N64, and handed the Mewtwo boss its butt on a plate. And how happy I was to find out it was a female. Of course I'd want to relive that part of it again.

Being able to have your entourage follow you in-game? I've been wanting that since Pokemon Yellow, for crying out loud. And none of the aggravation of Gen 2 or Gen 4. Presumably with the typing rules of Gen 7, seeing as Pokemon Go does recognize fairy type is a thing.

If you want to talk about a game that did nothing for the older fans, look no further than Detective Pikachu. That game just beats you over the head numb with its assertion of being "for the kids".

Nice to see that you are being the positive one for once. :P
I value good, genuine new content. Here I see a return to the roots of the series, childhood cheerfulness, a brand-new engine and a good graphical revamp. I will happily take this over stupid stones and dances, 800 alternative evolutions and an ever-expanding list of Pokemon that's already too big and serves the sole purpose of selling cards and toys. Sometimes less is more.

I cant use pokemon go when going outside, I don't pay for cellular internet access so I only connect to house's internet, my university's wifi or the wifi at like retail places so when I go to the park or go hiking using Pokemon Go isn't an option for me

Ah, that kinda sucks. I'd miss Google maps and music/video streaming apps more than anything, though.

the engine doesnt look new tbh, just looks exactly like the 3ds engine animations and everything, they just added afew new mechanics like catching and such.
