It is now, and forever will continue to be, IMPOSSIBLE to downgrade the PS4 firmware. Not even Sony can do it. Don't try and sound all wise and shit when you don't actually know jack.

The means to do so is drastic. It requires hardmods and replacing the eMMC.

Thinking it's not possible is just ignorant. I have a bachelor's in computer sciences, and work as a Pen Tester for a large company. I know a thing or 2 about what I'm saying lol. Not that you will believe that, I don't blame you, internet and all. The point is, every system can be cracked period. It's whether or not it's worth doing so is the question. Where once again, in this case, it has already been done. However the way it has been achieved makes it not worth the time or effort or money to do so.

However I suggest you do some googling, and don't be so quick to write things off. Like I said, there is a difference between possible and plausible.

Except my problem was self inflicted. I replaced the motherboard but it didnt come with the Married Blu Ray daughterboard. I didnt sweat it because it was never an issue until 5.0 hit

Boom no more updating and no way to fix it myself. I have a PS4 pro now but I wouldn't mind turning my old PS4 into something useful

Does anyone know it it would be possible for hacks to allow UPDATING to official firmware without the BLU RAY check that occurs causing Error E-801809A8?

Would it be possible to have someone edit the firmware update and remove the Hardware check, yes. Is it likely to happen, I doubt it. I think most that would be capable and know enough about the PS4 to do so, are already swamped with the exploits.

very true about the emmc but i dont think it should be that hard maybe avoid ripping pads when you remove the emmc I do this on cellphones but on the ps4 it might not be worth the time hopefully someone posts a guide

Wait until 5.0x exploit is released then ask devs nicely, with your sob story plus the other guy & anyone else you can find in the same situation. If it's just a matter of taking the time to port however many offsets, then maybe someone will agree to help you.

That's a good idea, they would only need to port 1 subset, as you can't get past 4.73, unless your drive died after the 5.00 update.

However ya, there is a ton of people affected and stuck at 4.73

Not even Sony can do it.

It does not have an eFuse afaik. And further more, eFuse or not, Sony can always "downgradge" a PS4 as they a) have the crypto key to do what you can't do and b) re-build an older version as a new one if it's eFused. They can even rewrite the bootloader and shit to bypass anything, dump anything and restore anything. You said it like even Apple can't downgrade an iOS device, which is apparently wrong and sounds stupid. They can do it, just won't do it (for you). And at some point, we might be able to do it via exploits found on the fw/hw. There's always chances.

If it's just that the update is blocked and the newer versions will actually run then if the kernel patches are ported to 4.73 then you might be able to create a hacked installer for 5.x that skips the bluray firmware update.

Assuming of course that 4.73 has the exploit that they are using in 5.05

As someone who works in the IC industry who's major client including Sony, I don't know what to say about him.

You are an idiot. It certainly has efuses. I don't give a shit about what you think you know. Additionally, once an efuse is blown, it can NEVER BE RESTORED, YOU FUCKING CUCK. The only way Sony could get that blown system back to another older fw, is to replace the board/bridge/chipset/SoC in which the device resides that. By doing that, the whole board will likely be replaced.

EITHER WAY, THEY CANNOT DOWNGRADE YOUR SYSTEM. NO ONE FUCKING CAN. THEY CHANGE THE HARDWARE AND ITS A NEW SYSTEM WITH ALL EFUSES INTACT. FUCKING MORON.

If it's like with the PS3 they probably use eFuses to store the consoleid, but yeah I too can't find references about PS4 eFuses usage using normal channels and he doesn't care or is unable to cite sources...

A Wololo post isn't a definitive reference, but yeah, it's what I meant with "normal channels". ^__^

I think there's a note on psdevwiki that mentions the Cell CPU has 48 bits eFuses that are used to store the consoleid (or another unique per console code).
