And that's why that one, which has yet to have any reports of bricking, also costs more than the other dongles. Which was also one of your original points.
still i would be better safe than sorry, burning a switch that cost 300$ and loosing all your save files is something i wouldnt risk at all, just becuase no reports becuase i bet very few people actualy bough those since they were expensive.

why would you pay 70$ for a third party dongle? your better off just buying an official switch dock for a tiny few $ diference, and heck it costed 90$ more expensive than an official dock before promotion.
you See 90$ as cheap?
In Germany (Europe) 89€ for the Dock thats around 109$ and that is expensive!
For you a big Mac cost around 1, 99€ or a Döner kebab 4,30€.
A switch game around 59€.
Most third Party Dock around 17-20€

Because I have a solid plastic case on my switch and I don't want to remove it everytime I want to play on TV + the official dock can strike the screen

With the current information, can we assume it's not the dock itself causing the issue, but the power supply? I've been using both the original dock and a 3rd party, both use the official Nintendo switch charger. Whereas the Nyko has a 3rd party charger bundled with it.

That's incorrect. SpawnWave was using the official charger in the nyko dock when his brick happened

Mmh i Use the coov Docks with the original Nintendo Power supply.
But i Use a 3rd Party 15v Power supply too.

The Power supply Have the Same output like wie on the original supply.
5v 1.5A and 15v 2.6A.

And Nintendos answer only Use lizenz Things could be understand that they say that you buy the thing of Nintendo only.

I think it is Bad that big n Use usb typ c but dont Use the standards.
USB is Standard and should work with every thing Because of the standards.
And every one think usb is usb Because of the standards.

That's incorrect. SpawnWave was using the official charger in the nyko dock when his brick happened

But nyko says to not Use the original Power supply on the Dock.
They say to Use the nyko Power supply on the nyko Dock that come with it.

Just went through the video and he does state he was using the official power supply. So I dunno. Looks like my second dock is gonna gather dust until this is all sorted.

So does this only affect 5.0 right not 4.0
Thats not proved that IT is the Firmware.
There are Docks that work without problems.
But nyko and scorel Docks are crap.
And with 5.0 There are man brick Edition switch without using a 3rd Party Dock.

5.0 is outDated Because 5.0.1 is out

sorry if it's been asked but I use a standard USB cable to charge my Switch (console off or un standby without the dock). Do I risk the brick according to you?

Possibly. Based on what I've seen so far, it looks like the switch isn't USB-C compliant, and over-draws USB-PD power sources by enormous amounts. The lack of voltage is what causes the issue here.

Bit of a necrobump, but does anyone know if C-Force adapters have caused any Switch bricks? I'm thinking the C-Force CF002 looks really nice for putting in my pouch so I always have a dock with me, but with the increased cases of bricks since 5.0, I'm kind of hesitant. A quick Google search didn't come up with anything C-Force related though. Still, I want to be sure it's safe.
Figured it was better to post here than make a new thread.

Is there a portable dock that is safe to use these days? Would love to be able to take a dock with me to play with friend that don't own a switch.

Also, is it save to power the switch using a powerbank with a usb A --> usb C cable?

Open up an official dock and put its tiny innards in a different shell. There's at least one kit for doing this.

Risk of brick with anything else isn't worth the money saved, especially if you have an exploitable Switch.

And when you need more the 1 Dock?

There are risky Docks like scorel and nyko.
And other that are not risky like nforce and coov.

Scorel and nyko are scrap since they are released.

The other Docks from coov or cforce Have no Message of bricking the switch.
Coov released a Upgrade Version of the Docks that allow to update the Docks.
I only hear that 2-3 people has problems with coov but no bricks.

The most Problem with bricks are the not Standard usb Port from nintendo and low bugget Power Adapter or Power banks.

Dont spread the fake that all Docks only brick the switch.

maybe this is a stupid question, but what happened to your original dock to need a third party one? is this for portability?

Some User need more Then 1 Dock for several rooms.
The USB and hdmi will not be better with Many plug in and plug out and with time it is shaky and loose the connection.
Thats a Main Problem of usb ports.
To buy a Second or third nintendo Dock is expensive with 90€ for 1 Dock.
