"The game and rendering technology underlying Doom is extremely scalable. In bringing Doom to Switch, we targeted outstanding visuals at a solid 30 fps and by maintaining a consistent 30 fps, the experience remains consistently fluid and smooth. We’ve been thrilled with the feedback that Doom is among the very best looking and performing games on Switch."

"But, there is no difference in how graphics are rendered between docked and handheld modes, although the game may appear different simply because it is played on a larger screen, according to Bethesda. When it is docked, the game plays on your television at 720p."

Another detail to note is that the optional, multiplayer update is 9 gb in size meaning you would need at least a 16gb sd card.

This is different from the guess digital foundry gave in their speculation video. It may just be upscaling but its interesting to know that there isn't any compromises when in handheld mode other than a less consistent frame rate.

Can't wait for this. As long as it doesn't have severe frame drops or lag, this will be a nice addition to my switch game colection.

Same here as I don't have it on my PS4 already. It sucks that I would need a new SD card as all of my games are on the 32gb internal memory but it was going to happen.

I don't particularly care about resolution, but I do hope the FPS is stable. Doom on the Switch will be a purchase for me!

This.
It's how you recognize devs who care about their users. Not everyone want to use the multiplayer and thus they are not forced to get more space.

I played the demo back in the day on Xbox One, but I never bought it... Actually, I think I will play that demo a bit more today.
I am somewhat interested in the game for Switch due to portability though.
Anyway I would wait until the game is released and some hands-on reviews of the final version are published before buying.

PS: I also care for stable FPS and not so much for the resolution. 30 FPS is ok (not optimal) as long as it is stable.

I think this version sucks on so many levels. Doom is all about the fast gameplay and 60fps should be a minimum. I've played it on pc at 144 myself but I have no issue playing it at 60. 30 is unacceptable to me for any fast shooter really. It doesn't matter. People will buy it and I hope those who don't care will enjoy it because it's awesome. Mario Rabbids is a game I'm perfectly fine with playing at 30. Just my personal opinion.

For the multiplayer, I'd agree on the FPS, but for the single player, it's not needed

I agree it still is playable in 30 FPS, but seriously in my eyes it hinders the experience a lot.
Anyway, though it will not be the same, it will still be enjoyable at 30FPS IMHO.

in the Digital foundry video where pc lowest settings 540p is beating the switch version from what we can see
Actually, it is still not clear. But it quite possibly has dynamic resolution going well below 540p in stressful situations.
IMHO, as long as it keeps a stable frame rate it can go well down to 480p for all I care.

Resolution and texture quality issues aside, doom is a very fast paced game
I can't imagine it running lower then 60 fps, its terrible to put it lightly

Yeah, I was hoping 60 FPS in docked mode, but I'm mostly buying it for the portable aspect anyway since I already own it on PC. It would've been nigh impossible to manage 60 FPS in portable mode.

Meh, 30 FPS is consoles' bread and butter. At least with Switch you get a portable mode to go along with it rather than just yelling at your TV when you die in Bloodborne because of FPS hitches.

Sounds to me like the game is CPU bound. While the final output resolution is 720p I'm curious if that resolution is actually being met in terms of raw pixels docked or undocked considering the game's notably blurry look.

i said from the very beginning this was going to be bad on the switch. it just doesn't have the power doom craves. FACT
Don't devolve into a useless troll please. They've already shown footage and it looks great. If you don't like the Switch version I guess you can go get the other portable version of DOOM though...OH WAIT. There isn't another.

To be honest, I would always recommend getting one of the other versions of Doom. I don't think portability negates the fact this is going to an inferior version of the game. I find it hard to be sold on the Switch especially as you can get the PC version for $10.

Pretty much everybody already owns another version of it, but IMO a portable 720p version of a recent AAA game is equally as impressive as playing on a stationary device in 4K. It's always moving goalposts with Switch though, nobody ever seems to be impressed even when they get what they want.

The game released last year rofl. And Wolfenstein 2 isn't even out yet but has been announced for Switch. Brand new content, there you go. See above with the moving goalposts. It wasn't that long ago people thought Vita produced some impressive graphics, and obviously Switch puts that to shame.

There's being a technical achievement but frankly, it's going to be hard to convince people to pay full price for an inferior version of Doom. Portability is cool but is overrated.

COmparison tot he Vita's visual is pretty redundant considering, the Vita was five years old when the Switch was released. It would have been an achievement to not outdo the Vita.
