Hi, I want to get CFW on a psp, but I don't know which psp I should get. I have a PSP 2000, but I found a 3000 for pretty cheap online, costs about as much as it would for me to buy a charger and a battery for the one I have now. I know that you can install Pro cfw on any psp, and I just need to get the psp to the point where it'll run ps1 and psp isos off the memory stick.

Yeah, if this image is real then holy shit that screen is hideous. Thanks for the advice, I'll stick with the 2000 then.

Oh wait no, it's the psp 2000 that's hideous. Alright, I don't think the scanlines will bother me as much as how flushed the colors are on the 2000.

Older 2000s can always be unbricked and autoboot CFW in a cleaner way (CIPL), unlike later 2000s or every 3000 or Go (Infinity).

2000s are also tipically cheaper than 3000s under the disinformed seller's logic of newer=better

Does homebrew stuff work okay on it though?
All models can run all homebrews (except CIPL flashers) on the newest version
(Some homebrews require the larger memory not available on the 1000, but they're not many, and you're not even considering it so...)

I prefer PSP 1000 since I owned it before and it was better than 2000s. I hate scanline but I get used to it since it was so 80's when I was younger, lol. However, dont want to use scanline at all! However, if you are not sure which one 2000s or 3000s then I would pick 2000s over 3000s.

The scan lines will only bother you if, you have the Psp at the end of your nose. I don't notice them either. Since my 3000 broke, my 2000 is great. The Psp is a great emulation station, if you don't already have a portable one.

Does a psp-2004 count as an "older model"?

You can't say that from the model number (2004 means 2000 series, region 4 = continental europe)

Look under the battery for the "DATA CODE": 8A or lower supports CIPL, 8C or higher doesn't, 8B is ambiguous and should be checked with the PSPIdent homebrew (which is signed and runs even without CFW) - motherboard TA-88v2 or lower, but also TA-90v1 are flashable

It is lower than 8a, but unless CIPL helps me with what my goal here is (ps1 and psp games), then I'll probably get the 3000 anyways.

Alright, so I'll keep my psp 2000 for ps1 emulation and I'll buy the 3000 too. Can't have too many PSP's. Thanks for the advice.

Get the PSP GO. Not only is it even more portable, but it can handle the same gaming despite its size.

Just imagine the idea of whipping out a PSP GO and slaying your friends with its portability

IMO The PSP 1000 is a blurry mess. I own one and the motion blur is really annoying. Cant say anything about 2000 or 3000 since i play psp games on my vita and dont look back~

I have had a 3000 for ages and sometimes the scanlines bother me. But having recently picked up a E1000 model - which has the same screen as the 2000 AFAIK - and being able to compare them side to side, the screen on the 3000 is a lot better in terms of color.
