To be honest, I don't really care that MCJE isn't going to get updated. I play modded and I tend to stick to a few versions that already have quite a few mods made for them, or have an active modding community with a somewhat tiny amount of mods. Right now the two versions I'm using are 1.7.10 and 1.10.2.
I do understand why other people are mad though, especially if they like to play vanilla. They're getting left behind, feature-wise.

For anyone confused, there's 2 versions of PC Minecraft, Minceraft Java Editon and Minecraft Windows 10 Edition, the PC version is supported by the communities' maps, mods, texture packs etc, you can also play Java Edition on Windows 10. The Windows 10 Edition however, is a pretty much port of the Android/iOS versions, full of IAP bs.

Eh. Microsoft ruining Minecraft was obvious after they announced the buyout. Java Edition not getting updated (not fully confirmed) means next to nothing considering how huge of an impact the modding community has. I mean Skyrim got unofficial patches. Does that not mean something?

Well, the Java version should die because the rest of Minecraft versions are written in C++ and Java edition just makes everything harder, and it's optimization is worse. But that doesn't mean that Microsoft should make maps, texture packs and mods paid. It's really bad. But maybe those will be just some DLC packs, and we will still be able to mod Minecraft, transfer maps and make texture packs for it. But I highly doubt it.
