How to sideload PS1 Emulator on Xbox One (Needs further testing)

PSX-BOX is officialy dead. Due to some other projects I'm involved in, I don't have the time to work on it nor do I have the interest in the project anymore.

If you want PS1 Emulation on Xbox One you can either A. Get winpse10 for free (Not hard to find, just have a look around the forums) or B. You can install RetriX (A Libretro Port for Xbox One). Currently PS1 Emulation on RetriX is still a work in progress so keep that in mind.

Yeah, you're a hero. Continue dreaming. It seems that you're always talking on this site. I suggest you to code immediately, not always balalala on the website. I will go back to see what you get to the community then.

its not in progress....... its base code, just porting it and then seeing it work wouldnt be porting, it would be stealing
what does that mean? usaly when you port a emulator or game you use the source code to port over a already existing and working emulator/game it sounds like you guys are starting over making a psx emulator instead of porting

for example when wiired24 ported the ppsspp emulator over he just used the source code to port it over

Im a bit confused about this as well. Wouldnt it be simpler and faster to port an already existing and fully functional open source emulator, such as PCSX or Retroarch? I was under the impression that was what was already going on lol

I mean I dont see how its "stealing" if its open source. Thats kind of one of the points of it, is to allow others to use and expand upon it

Thats exactly what we are doing, using base code and then making our on emu as just porting an emu would be complicated as alot of them use code that simply doesnt work in the UWP platform

That kinda clears things up. Will the end result from this base code be something that can boot commercial games though? Thats I think what had both of us kinda shook lol

The result of the base code will be something we can build on, so dont expect for the emu to come fast, if it does at all

So whats the difference between this and the other emus that already surfaced? Like.. im assuming those WERE ports from open source programs.. but were they from old Windows Phone apps or something and not PC counterparts? That might explain the poor compat and PPSSPP's buggy UI actually

I'm going to clear this up for anyone who may be confused. First I'll just begin by saying, Nobody just starts from nothing. When doing a project especially one this big the team needed a base project to be able to learn off of and use. PSX-ACT was and is such an Emulator. PSX-BOX is based off of existing code from the PSX-ACT Project (Also Open Source). Early on in the development planning it was decided that we would start from the very bottom (opcodes, registers, etc) and work our way up using PSX-ACT's Codebase as well as available PS1 Hardware Documentation as our guide. See here... https://github.com/simias/psx-guide @dominater01 asked the question of how this emulator is "Better"? When I announced the project I said we can do it better. I didn't say we would have a better fully functioning emulator in the first week. This project was just born only but a few days ago. It's still very young. With that said we are making steady progress on PSX-BOX.

Already we have implemented Input, Vram, SPU, Core CPU Code, as well as the CD-Rom. We are taking steps to document the code well (Something that wasn't present much in the original codebase) and improve on the code in any way we can. This Emulator (PSX-BOX) will run commerical games in time. It may not right now and neither does PSX-ACT but why does that mean we have to stop there? PSX-Box is not limited to only the scope of it's parent project. It's a project that is being worked on by a team of hungry individuals who want to contribute an amazing PS1 Emulator to the scene. To this end we will continue striving towards this. We are always open to any contributors or developers who would like to help the project or get involved in any way. I hope I have cleared up any confusion people might have had. As development progresses I'll continue to update this thread. Til then, Later Friends

As many of you may be aware Pcsx-r aka WinPSe has been officially removed.
The choice to remove it wasn't due to any one thing nor was it due to the pressure of some suppoused "Developer". It ultimately came down to knowing
that WinPSe was software that

1. Was very buggy and unstable

2. Did not include the source code thereby violating the freedoms of the users
as well as blatantly disprespecting the GPL License.

3. Because we can do so much better.

And here at GbaTemp that's exactly what we are doing. Currently we have a small dev team who is working on our own PSX Emulator and bringing it to the
Xbox One platform. If you are a developer with prior knowledge of porting or
C/C++ and you'd like to join the development team message me and we will
be happy to have you. Our build just like our PPSSPP Port will be stable, fast
and will include the source code thereby respecting your freedoms as given to
you by the License of the software. We will update this page as development progresses with a full tutorial. Til then stay golden my friends B-)
