I'm installing a9lh right now.
In this page, it said to download
  • The latest fork of SafeA9LHInstaller (the .7z file)
  • The latest release of arm9loaderhax (the .7z file)
The thing is that SafeA9LHInstaller is on version 2.0.6, and on the arm9loaderhax github says to not use it with SafeA9LHInstaller version 2.x
Then, what should I do?
It says to ONLY use with 2.x

hi, so ive followed the 3ds.guide all the way and got everything working on my 2ds from 11.2.

Things appear to be working fine to me, but it almost all happened without knowing, so got a few questions really:

  1. do i now need to always have the SD card in the DS to use a9lh and luma?
  2. how do i know a9lh is installed and working ok?
  3. how do i know Luma is installed and working ok? and at what version?
  4. i read a lot about nand back ups and other backups. Following the guide there are a few times it tells you to save a file safe, which obviously i have done. But can somebody please confirm what backs i should have exactly? and how often should i make any new backups?
thanks for the help

Is there a thread that would explain exactly what every step in 3ds.guide does? If not I might write one in the near future.

this would be handy.... the guide is great and easy to follow but for someone like me i always like to understand what i am doing and in simple english not the short hand jargin like people always refer to.

so why else did you follow the guide if you are never using the homebrew?

You might not need homebrew launcher. Many homebrew are distributed as cia.

Tried searching this thread for my issue. It's probably everywhere and I'm just not seeing it. Sorry if this has been asked a thousand times before.

Switched from SKY to SKY+ back in September (?). I have a private header. I had backed up all of my game data as ".sav" files to my computer before selling my blue-button, since the SKY+ would be utilizing sav files.

So with the new SKY+ FW I'm able to get Pokemon Moon to work great. But I want to transfer a few of my pokemon via GTS from my Alpha Sapphire ROM to my Moon ROM. So I copy the AS ROM to my cart. It creates sav and cfg files. I delete the automatically created sav and replace it with the one I beat the game with a while back. Instead of a 1 MB sav it's a 10 MB sav...

Except it doesn't work. It keeps getting rewritten as a new game with no save data! What am I doing wrong here? It's the same ROM with the same sav that worked on my blue button. It's been so long I don't even remember if I ever got it to work on my orange button. You know, testing it before I sold it.

I don't have CFW. Having someone help do that for me turned out to be a spectacular disaster. I have 11.3 FW on regular N3DS. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I have a question relating to "restoring preinstalled games".
I bought the 2DS Pokemon Moon Edition and got it with FW11.0.0.
2DS was never connected to nintendo.

Yesterday I successfully installed Luma3DS without any problems, because ... 3ds.guide ;)

Before I did, I read that it's possible to use all data as before.
For the downgrade+installation I used another SD card to keep all original files.
I tried to copy the ID folder (3gb) from the Nintendo 3DS dir to the SD card, but unfortunately: PKMN Moon is missing now and I did not found this thread yesterday: httpwn ... https://gbatemp.net/threads/n3ds-preparation-for-cfw-and-pre-installed-game-transfer.437270/

What can I do (if it's possible) to restore the game and bind it to my NNID (now with latest FW).

PS: freeShop isn't that solution what I'm looking for. ;)

You should be able to log onto the eShop and redownload it.

For the save to work it has to be the same rom with the same private header. Get the rom from wherever you downloaded it from originally, and use the same header.

So I tried this. Same file, unmodified from 2015. Sav file from 2015. Same header I've always used. And it didn't work. I tried cycling through the games on the cart as I've seen suggested elsewhere. So I tried this with a second game and it too can't load the save data... I tried erasing the header from the cfg file supposing that perhaps the header wasn't inserted properly when I played with the blue button (which I know isn't right because playing pokemon online worked). Still doesn't work.

Does it make a difference that I have since upgraded to a New 3DS since I last used these games/saves?

@Quantumcat imo only possible with the PIN code, ...haven't that pin.
There's a program you can use to generate a key to bypass parental controls. I can't remember the name but it should be easy enough to Google.

I don't know a lot about the Sky3DS - but I think you have to put the manufacturer code in somewhere. Did you try a few different ones in case that affects it?

Is there any way to check if spotpass is working properly?
I'm not asking for copyrighted material, just asking if it exists and how could I approach this issue.

Thx

You could downgrade to a firmware below the latest, delete any predownloaded update and leave it in sleep mode for a few hours with an internet connection and see if it downloads the update and starts asking you to install it.

I'm going to try that app people is using lately to rollback to 11.3
Thank you!
