Im not sure if this is the place to be asking this question, but when do you think nintendo will stop making 3ds's?
You might try this question in the 3DS Game & Content part of this forum.

IMO Nintendo won't stop making 3DS for a while, but it will obviously end a day (mayber in 1 or 2 years ? pure guess with no source at all). And despite the fact Ninty said Switch will not replace 3DS, don't trust them because switch will definitely replace the 3DS. the switch or the "New Switch", but something will a replace 3DS a day.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a question regarding this guide about A9LH : https://3ds.guide/

material : o3DS, official firmware 11.3

The question :
By following this guide + using Emunand9 before installing A9LH : Is it possible to install an emunand and end with dual boot Sysnand/Emunand + A9LH.
The goal is to install A9LH + Luma 3DS, but keeping a sysNand version that can run unpatched Hax at any moment (currently soundHax i guess), while using an (most often updated) Emunand to run any feature of the glorious CFW master race.

Or another possibility : Even if dual/boot is possible, would you say to keep doing what the guide says and not caring about a dual boot sysnand/emunand (because useless ?) ?

Actually that's not for me but for a friend. I already have my 3DS working perfectly with A9LH and dual boot.
For now i'm trying to figure if a dual boot solution is better or not, and if it's possible.
When i followed plailect's guide a while ago, it was still about rednand/emunand. But by quickly reading this guide I didn't see anything about redNand/Emunand installation, that's why i don't know if it's still possible.

Thanks for any answer :grog:

If you have a9lh, you should be using FBI as a CIA on your Home Menu, not the Homebrew Launcher. If you update, you won't lose access to FBI as long as you have a9lh and it's installed as a CIA.

Hi all, I had rxtools installed on my N3DS, haven't used my 3DS for a year or so until this week and I accidentally updated the firmware on my emunand today, now when it boots I'm able to see the rxtools screen but it cannot load emunand and ends up with a black screen. I'm able to access my sysnand (my sysnand firmware version is 9.2)

I read around the forum and seems others had the same problem and everyone is recommending to following the guide on https://3ds.guide/ to upgrade rxtools and emunand to luma and A9LH.

I saw I can keep my existing games and saves using this step during the installation process: https://3ds.guide/move-emunand but I'm not sure if my emunand got bricked or not when I updated the firmware, or whether the new firmware only blocked rxtools? Would it be safe to follow the steps in moving my emunand to sysnand in my case?

Thanks for your help.

The new firmware just doesn't allow emuNAND to be booted from rxTools. It's still there unharmed you just can't get to it with your current setup. You don't have to install a9lh, you can just replace rxTools with Luma if you wish, and boot into it the same way you have been booting into rxTools. Takes less time to set up, but you have to be a bit smarter as there's not a step by step guide and you will have a less good entrypoint at the end. But it is up to you. See https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/wiki/Installation-and-upgrade

Hi to all.

I have 2 Nintendo 2Ds, and I ordered 2 r4isdhc R4 3DS SDHC flashcarts, not yet delivered. Last night I installed
arm9loaderhax in one of the consoles following the great guide from https://3ds.guide, and loaded some cia games, and everything is working great.
Now this console is updated to the latest firmware 11.4, so, will the flashcart be working ok, with it? Should I install A9LH in the other console, or just wait and use the flashcart instead? what shall be the benefit from having R4 card with A9LH?

Another question, how can I run old ATARI 2600 games on the A9LH console? what emulator should I install?

R4 is used to play the original ds games. It will probably work on 11.4 If you want to run 3ds games, you'll need a9lh.

When I open Freeshop it doesn't open. What can I do?

Gesendet von meinem ONEPLUS A3003 mit Tapatalk
What cfw are you using? With which entry point? What freeshop version? What system version? Is it giving an error? Does it start to open and then crash? How far does it get into starting? Next time asking a question provide a bit more details, thanks.

Hi, Im still using the old emunand/sysnand method via browserhaw (I think? Im a bit confused about all this at this point, It has that strange "graphic glitch" at boot and then it launches a menu where I select Luma), the question is: can I update Luma to the latest release (7.0.0-7.0.1) with this setup?

I saw that, if you have a9lh, you only need to copy the "arm9loaderhax.bin" to the SD root and thats all, but in my possition idk what Im supposed to do to update it "manually", idk if I can do it either, maybe the newer versions are meant to be used on a9lh.

At this moment Im using Luma 5.5 on a N3DS XL, and my emunand is on cfw 11.0 or so.

Almost forgot, those apps like Star Updater (I think this one doesnt work anymore) or Luma Updater may be a solution for this? Or updating manually is always better?

Thanks for the help and sorry for my english.

PD: I know that the "joker" answer to all this is "just get a9lh", I dont want to do it right now, so try to avoid that kind of answers :V

According to luma3ds install guide (https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/wiki/Installation-and-upgrade)
just copy arm9loaderhax.bin and the contents of the hax folder to the root of your sd. If you want to autoboot Luma without having to choose it on boot copy boot.3dsx from menuhax folder to the root of your sd. Btw. You're using menuhax. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your answer, I will try doing that later then.

To be honest, my only intention was to install and try the freeshop, I already did it and its working all fine (apparently), but I thought that maybe I could get some issues running an old Luma version and trying to install games (at least the newer ones), is that a possibility? Because, if not, then maybe I dont need to keep touching stuff and leave it as it is until I want to do the A9LH+Luma thing.

Luma version shouldn't matter unless you need new features/bug fixes or anything else that has changed. If you want to update your emunand, you may need to update Luma first.

I backed up my Pokemon Sun cartridge to cia and installed it. Went to eShop to update it. Is it normal to have the update size be the full 3gb (24xxx blocks)
