You're paying so you're a premium user and if Nintendo still offers a shitty service then there isn't much point to paying it then.

I'm not disagreeing with that. I'm just saying its an easy price to make up for so I can play my favorite games online year round without me even noticing I'm actually even paying for a monthly service. I could make a big deal about it, but when its so easy to drop one little thing I buy a month that I don't need and replace it with the subscription fee, it becomes next to impossible for me to actually complain about regardless of the actual quality of the service and all it will or wont have to offer.

It's so wierd seeing everyone have problem with nintendos online service, I dont have the best internet but I rarely see slowdowns when playing online in splatoon, sm4sh 3ds and wiii u, bayonetta 2, or mario kart 8 & 7 :P But yeah if you are having lag in your online battles I do see why you'd be mad about paying for more laggy battles, good thing I haven't experienced this tho

i know pretty much of no1 in my friend circle who still has xbox 1. most sold their for ps4/switch.

What we know so far:
  • It'll cost about $20 yearly
  • Free monthly games are only monthly rentals
  • Voice-chat will be done via a smartphone app
  • This online paid service will come in fruition during Summer 2017 or later
And so on.

I'm not in the least optimistic about it but as I imagine I'll be playing Mario Kart 8: Deluxe for years to come, if Nintendo handles this properly then most customers will be happy to pay for it. Changing things such as, rental to keeping the games (as long as you're a paid member) and voice-chat via the console (the Original Xbox and PS2 both had voice-chat so don't tell me the Switch can't handle it).

And one thing that's extremely lacking right now... the eShop! The eShop is so bare-bones that I hope it becomes meaty, organised and more popular by the time Nintendo starts charging us to play online.

I know, for $20 you can't expect a whole lot but those things are pretty standard to have in today's gaming world so Nintendo shouldn't get a pass if they end up charging and having an online shitty service.

16 days to go 'till MK8D is out (yes, I'm super thrilled for the big day and I'll go straight to online play). :)

Good deal but nah. I am not into online. I love to play on my own for the ending. Not for multiplayer endless. That's not for me. Saiyan Lusitano, thanks for the news, thought. :)

The cheap price doesn't justify it at all. Aside from the VC rentals, all of these should have been innate features on the switch, but Nintendo is notorious for cheaping out on its customers.

Aside from the eshop discounts and keeping of the VC titles that I mentioned before, something that I would gladly pay for if they added it would be access to VC games in a netflix-like subscription akin to Microsoft's game pass.

you're denying this on a forum dedicated to hacking consoles. are you serious.
Please don't place the minuscule amount of people hacking on consoles especially online on the same pedestal with the everyday PC hacker it's night and day. I was part of the 3.55 craze on PS3 i know how many of us got banned, people hack their consoles then stay the fuck offline in fear of Sony or MS.

The Wii did have hacking online, but that's Nintendo.

Either way console hacking is niche at best.

Things PS4 has: Games.
Things Appbox One and Scorpio have: Apps.

Does Candy Crush have online multiplayer?

Top 10 best seller games in 2016:

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
Battlefield 1
The Division
NBA 2K17
Madden NFL 17
Grand Theft Auto V
Overwatch (no Battle.net sales)
Call of Duty: Black Ops III

Final Fantasy XV

Games on this list not available at Xbox one: 0.

Keep that denial though, it's worth a good laugh.

So you'd gladly pay for it if they charge more money? IMO keep it simple, keep it cheap. Half the price of other consoles' online service is the way to go. I don't care about extras at all really as long as they get the basics right. I use voice chat almost never on any platform.

I didn't say I'd pay more, though 20 bucks a year for a subscription of a good number of VC titles might seem cheap. Maybe 30 USD for that. Even then, all you're paying for that separates this subscription from the other two is that you get two classic titles, temporarily. Voice chat? Both Xbox and ps4 have that innately. Vita has it innately too.

Whereas you pay 40 or so more yearly for Xbox gold or ps plus, you not only get a better selection of games that you can keep (given you maintain the subscription), but you also get discounts in the online stores as well. If the rather dated games that you get from paying nintendo 20 bucks a year aren't going to last longer than a month, then at least give us something to make it even slightly worthwhile. I'm a bit dubious on the quality multiplayer would have too, as most games are p2p, and charging for that is pretty scummy (yes I dislike microsoft and sony for doing that). However, Nintendo's servers are notoriously bad, but even if the quality goes up, it shouldn't have been something you needed to pay for anyway. If you're going to charge me 20$ a year for games I can almost easily emulate (for all I know the VC games could be NES games), at least give me 10% off purchases in the eshop. All opinions of course.

Regardless of whether you used those features or not, they exist on other platforms. For free. Also you don't need to be using your smartphone at the same time. Though you'd need a mic. However you get a cheap but efficient mic with each console purchase (I'm not too sure about my Xbox One, but i believe I got a mic from them too).

am I the only one who doesn't think that having voice chat on phones totally sucks?

Most people will have their phones on them while playing a game--I don't see why plugging earphones into the console instead of your phone is magically less convenient. Heck, it enables you to use voice chat if, say, you're playing a game on your couch or w/e and can't stretch your cord across the room to your TV.

Idk why people are getting so up in arms about 'no, we MUST HAVE VOICE CHAT ON THE CONSOLE ITSELF OTHERWISE IT'S RUINED'

Just my two cents of course

To me it seems cheeky and half a***d, especially for a paid service.

It also assumes people have compatible smartphones.

They could have allowed bluetooth headsets similar to the other consoles or have designed the pro controller to have a port.

i like how you completely omitted uncharted 4 out, your avatar just screams nintendrone.
downplaying ps4's success is pure retardation

it's like saying wii was a bad console lol

Uncharted 4 will not be in that list, nor will it ever. Nor will any other exclusive. When taking into account of what sold best, ALL platforms are essentially combined into one. You will ALWAYS see multi-platform games in the top 10. In fact using a top ten list is rather redundant as it proves nothing. Instead, use a list of what sells best for each console, then see how well it's exclusives sold there.

Also his particular list is for the US. The rest of the world has different tastes, and as far as I know there is no global video game sales listing, least not one I can find easily.

That's worldwide. His list is for US (maybe north america in total) sales specifically. Not sure how legitimate it is either, as it comes up first when googling it. According to my research uncharted 4 sold about 3.8 mil or so in NA alone in 2016 while FF15 sold about 2.2 mil (both Xbox One and PS4) copies in the NA. There's must be other factors that are determining the placements in that list (perhaps they did something like an average sales per month type of thing, as it is pretty unfair to compare sales of a game that came out earlier in the year than ones that came out later), but I don't care too much for it and I've already gone far out of my way to research something that doesn't really have any relevance to me.
