Why would you get a Wii u now it's not like they're even cheap.
Switch is where it's at.
If you can get a Wii u for like $75 then sure but considering they can't really be found for under $200 just get a switch.

$205 after shipping for a perfect, refurbished unit from Ninty with a 1 year warranty. Then play any and every Wii U game for free (because this forum is for piracy), as well as vWii for GameCube (Nintendont) and regular Wii.

Compare that to the Switch: $300 for the system. Want the Pro controller? $370. Want a game? $430. Want to charge joycons when not connected to Switch? $460. Want to play another good game other than Zelda: impossible at the moment.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Switch is getting Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon. Xenoblade is coming. PuyoPuyo Tetris is actually a lot of fun with friends. 1, 2 Switch needs a price drop, but otherwise fun. The "Switch has no games" argument is going to shit, quick.

You just listed 3 Wii U games that Ninty is making you pay full price for again on yet another system. Stop falling for their shitty tactics. I love PuyoPuyo, but I don't like Tetris anymore.

If you get the switch, you will be paying for the internet service (most likely about the same as xbox live or psn) and as of right now, there are a lot more games on the wii u than the switch.

Most people are "rebuying" those games because on the switch we can now play those games on the go. The portability is what is selling those games.

I guess. Personally, I would have no use for the Switch on the go. If I go on vacation, I can bring my Wii U with me just as easily as my Switch (after all adapters and what not). But I understand the ad-hoc features are now what they were supposed to be with the DS. I just have an issue with Ninty this generation. They went with the accessory model to gain profit, and it sucks for consumers. I have to spend $70 to get a controller with an actual d-pad for use with the Switch? And this is from the company that invented the d-pad!? And instead of HD collections, they are selling the same games, just as they were before, with a few added features that consumers wanted the first time around (balloon battle on battle courses). Ninty is offering no program to upgrade for a cheaper price. So I spent $60 on Mario Kart 8, $15 or so on the season pass, then they want another $60 for a port? It's absurd. I can only imagine that online players from MK8 Wii U and Splatoon Wii U will be transitioning to the Switch, making the Wii U games' online player count diminish to an unknown end.

When looking at whether to buy a Switch OR a WiiU? Yeah, these games coming to the former help a lot. Going from the Wii U to the Switch? Waiting for exclusives seems plausible. Not everyone bought or even wants a Wii U. That's where the Switch comes in.

The Wii u can be brought on a trip, but can't be played anywhere except the hotel room. I can bring my switch, play it on the car ride to the airport, play it while waiting at the gate, play it on the plane ride, then at the hotel use it on the tv, and then bring it elsewhere during the trip.

Yup. I mentioned I understood your point. Even though Ninty claims this isn't a handheld only console, lol. Then why does the online system use the same type as 3DS and not the same as Wii U? :P

Wii u, 3ds and switch use the same online services. Are you referring to the ad-hoc networking it has, which is only used for multiconsole local multiplayer?

Nope. I'm referring to the Wii U moving towards the Network ID and the 3DS and Switch having friend codes.

From what I've heard that's because they haven't finished fully developing the online functions. Hence why we don't even have the phone app. I'll bet they will have that functionality once they get the entire online system up. It's also why we don't have voice chat yet, even though we know we will be getting it later.

For now. Splatoon 2 is coming this summer and you can bet that they will shutdown both the MK8 and Splatoon servers for the Wii U this autum once their online is active.
Nintendo said that Wii U and 3DS servers won't be shutdown in the future The reason why the Wii servers were shutdown was because Nintendo didn't own them

Yes they will. No server's stay up forever and why would they continue to support a dead console with online server that is free?

Because the Wii U servers ride on the same network as 3DS ones. Has Sony ended PS3 on
one yet? No, because they own the servers. The reason why Wii servers shut down was because GameSpy, who owned the servers and maintained them was bought out and destroyed by Glu. Nintendo owns Wii U and 3DS servers and server for the Wii Shop Channel and it is the reason why you can still access it after 4 years after online for the Wii went down

No servers stay up forever.. But until Nintendo sees a reason to shut them down, they will remain.

Yes, this is what I mean. This is why I think they will shut them down quite soon for the Wii U part.

PS3 is a bad example since it just stopped production for it. Of course they keep the shopping parts open, it's not as bad as keeping up a gaming platform with server(s) running. There is a huge difference in bandwidth and hardware needed.

Not without taking down the 3DS servers. They'd have to go through hell to separate them and THEN shut them down.
