Game Freak Currently Recruiting For New Console Game

Game-freak-logo.jpg

The makers of Pokemon have been pumping out advertisements to build a new team for the development of a new console game described as a, "Globally popular RPG."

Quoted from IGN UK's article on the matter said:
Reported by Siliconera (and corroborated by our own translation), an advert for a 3D CG designer calls for someone to work on "characters, monsters and items" for "a title that everyone knows".

The advert specifically says that this is a console title. while a second job listing (for a character model creator) specifies someone with experience of creating models up to "Wii U / PS Vita-level".

The Pokemon company has already said it would be making games for the New Nintendo Switch, and many speculate their first game could be coming by the end of this year.

The third entry for Sun and Moon exclusively on Switch perhaps? Or something different entirely?

The year just got more interesting for Switch owners.

But pokémon go IS a MMO.
Though it technically is a MMO, it's not in the traditional sense, because it's based around doing things offline in order to progress in the game. In a way it's the very opposite of a traditional MMO.
I would love a real Pokemon MMO though.
Let's not forget that Gamefreak has been behind a few other great titles. Tembo the Badass Elephant, Drill Dozer, and HarmoKnight. That said...

I'd love to see a sequel or game in the same vein as Pokemon XD.
Hell yeah, that would be awesome. I loved that game.
Though it wasn't made by Game Freak...

Not sure if it already has compatibility with come things, but if it's indeed a new proper pokemon rpg, I would think 3ds connectivity would pretty much be a requirement. Not that it's an absolute necessity, but players will definitely want to import/export pokemon with their other games. May be as simple as making pokemon bank run on switch. Kind of interesting dilemma, since it is guaranteed that at least the hardcore/obsessed players will want to be able to do this.

Not sure if it's been said already, but how would a modern (DS or later) main story Pokémon game work with only one screen? Or would they perhaps go back to the GBA days with a regular overlay?

I can imagine options on the sides of the screen, utilising the touch like in the ds/3ds games for battles and such.

The second screen is not needed. Pokemon has been play on the single screen for a while.
It would just have an overlay box somewhere at the bottom or top.
Same as jrpg.
I truly hope they add in time to the game.
I love that about ff7 you could only attack when your bar fill up and ot was possible to attack someone twice if the move they used last made there bar go slow.

considering the talk of compatibility with gamecube games, I'd assume it's a gale of darkness spin off with impoved graphics and such. Never was a fan of dp I like to hate my rivals, but it's hard if they have an attention disorder.

I don't get where people are getting the MMORPG from in the comments? Nothing in the source information even suggested it.

Oh damn, they were serious about developing on Switch. Although they don't specifically say what it is (PKMN Conquest 2, Mystery Dungeon, Awwww Snap 2?!?), I hope there's more info by summer.

Game Freak doesn't make any of those Pokemon games. In fact the only Pokemon titles Game Freak makes are the core Pokemon games. There isn't a doubt about it, this is for a core Pokemon game on the Switch. I assume it will indeed be the third version of Sun and Moon, but I hope they don't name it Stars, a name like Eclipse would be so much better in my opinion.

Pokemon MMO The Digimon Invasion, Clash of the Duel Masters featuring Yugioh and The Gobots.

lol No matter what they do, I really enjoy the GameFreak games, in spite of my hatred of Pokemon, I do like the games.... That is saying something, high quality will prevail in the end.

they can't name it stars because it'd only fit the sun version as the moon is a planet!

it would be smart to develope an open world pokemon game for the switch as that would defintely boost the Switch sales.
one of my close friend told me that he would only consider buying a switch if it gets a Pokemon game (preferably an open world type of Pokemon).

i'm no big pokemon fan , but it'd defintely be nice to have an open world type of pokemon game for the switch just for the sake of more games coming for the console xD

afaik all core pokemon games are openworld

If they are sure about what they always say, it won't ever be a MMO (or at least not a online-only one) since they've already stated how important is for them the portable side.

Meh, games are being developed all the time and just because a developer hires, doesn't mean it's anything to go crazy about. Case in point, Retro Studios were hiring since years and yet still no new gaems.

Welp if I'm not wrong they say in the advert that this people have to stay in Japan until 2018. Maybe I missunderstood, but doesn't this mean that they have a project and they'll need this people until theyr job is done?

Nah... If there are more 3rd party supporting for Nintendo Switch then they are definitely serious about developing on Switch. However, this company is a first party and of course, it is a serious about developing on Switch which I do not care about the "first and second party supporting". I rather to see 3rd party supporting seriously about developing on Switch which we are waiting for after E3 this summer. :)

The problem is, there isn't enough information given. That leads me to believe it might not be what 75% of people are hoping for. Just saying, 'A globally popular RPG', could mean, 'We're basing it off Pokémon, a globally popular RPG, but you're getting Bubble-Bobble (which could actually work) or, Pikachu's Crossbow Training.

I distinctly remember that one time they teased a 3-D Combusken, leading people to believe there was going to be a Wii U 3-D adventure, but we got Pokkén.

Maybe there are clues in S/M, like X/Y teasing the next region with 'Strange Souvenir' from the traveler? Look how long the Rainbow Coin from DK64 went unnoticed.

lol pokemon dungeon or snap lol.

Yea i really do hope for a good pokemon game. Something better then the same old stuff we gotten on the ds.
The gba days where cool but as time went on i felt that each one wasnt much of an update.

Hell yea an open world pokemon like how zelda is open up. That would be great.
Lots of tall grass, water, hot places, underground places.
Online battling at poke centers. It would be great.

But i bet we will just see a HD port of sun/moon knowing them

yes that what you stated sounds too good to be true though xD
but heck even a port of Sun Moon HD would sell like pancakes and boost the switch sales, but that is just me thinking.
