Hardware Why couldn't the switch dock load sideways?

does the switch base has any fans or heat dispersion function?, if not then you could modify it to sit horizontally by just adding some adhesive rubber feet to the front to avoid scratches, the only problem being that it wouldn't look so great.

I wish there was a 2nd model of the Switch offered thats purely a console for those that have no intentions whatsoever to use it as a portable. Could offer more specs too since the cost is mostly because of the tablet.

but that wouldn't be a nintendo "Switch" anymore, the fact is that nintendo is trying to sell this console with the gimmick of also being portable, but I got my reservations over whether the switch will replace both the Wii U and the 3DS.

I'm still trying to get over the disappointment that the newest LoZ wont be a 1080p@60fps experience. All because this system has to be a hybrid.

Wish they will offer something like this. Hopefully they will. I have zero reasons to buy the switch based on mobility and making it mobile means extra cost. So they could either offer a cheaper home-switch (cheaper because no screen, no touchscreen, cheap cooling etc) or a more powerful one (could be just a bit more powerful for AA and upscaling to 4k like xbox one s) at the same price. Then we are talking.

I understand this is a first world problem but still it's sort of pissed me off. The switch loads from the top but the issue I have is my TV stand shelves have no clearance to hover the switch between the shelves and slide it down into the dock.

I can't have he dock on the top shelf with the TV as there is no space and it can't sit infront of the TV as it would block some of the screen.

Side loading (front to back) would of been a better idea.

I have the same problem, hopefully it will fit behind the TV.

Same. I'll be using the SPC to play with the Switch rather than take it outside so the Switch Tablet won't be of much use to take out of the dock.

I would like that, but wasn't that the problem with the NES and it's cartridges?

Agreed. So the ones who want specs can have specs. And then a third model that focuses on mobility with unremovable joycons and a better battery (kind of the Switch's 2DS) so the ones who want mobility can have it. It would just destroy half of the whole point of the Switch which was to be both, but I don't know who wanted that anyway. And it only destroys half of it since they still could have a shared library for the two/three systems.

For people without animals/kids to worry about that's doable but it's still not an ideal solution.

Boom the switch flys out at you.

But truly they could of went old school and made a dock like a NES. So you blow on the switch's port then slide it in and press down lol.......
