its nintendo the wii u can't even read dvds you really expect them to do anything intelligent?
Well they stopped targeting kids so they learned something at least, nintendo always had a thing for proprietaring everything like apple do so that wasn't surprising at all. They also stopped using 6 year old chips in New consoles which is really nice. Nintendo aren't that regressive you know?

when did they stop using old chips wii u old chips *new* emphasis on the new 3ds is still outdated by quite a huge margin the nx hasn't come out yet so that doesn't even qualify so really how aren't they using old chips?

The chip they are using is a maximum of 2 years old since the dev kits are confirmed to be running a maxwell based nvidia tegra chip which the only one is the tegra X1 which launched in 2015. The 3ds' processor was already 6 years old when it launched and the wii u's was about the same when it launched

Amd haven't made a mobile SoC yet so that wasnt an option, anyway nintendo also confirmed themselves its a custom nvidia tegra chip and so did nvidia announce it. Let's hope it's pascal since those chips are way more efficient leading to better battery life + extra performance in a smaller package

No they haven't made any mobile device SoC, their K12 chip is launching this year but no OEM has said they are going to use it yet so they where defo not an option for Nintendo.
They have made SoC s before obviously, the current gen consoles are using them and every APU they made too, however they have never made a mobile chipset yet

Lol yeah free public servers sure, the people making the servers would still have to pay the same amount as nintendo is so I doubt they could provide for free unless it was a billionaire hosting it. I've seen claims from people managing to download files from switch titles on NUS so maybe they haven't learnt anything and are still using the same servers for their CDN

Not really. Look at how PC gaming servers work. The companies that do allow self-hosted servers don't care what you shell out for a server. You can either host it at home, on a dedicated server that costs hundreds of dollars a month, or anything in between that. Look at Source games. Those can be hosted on a $10 VPS with no problems. Of course, if you want to host multiple games you're gonna have to shell out more, but that's beside the point.

Yet. If DVD playback could be added to the Wii with a cIOS, then I don't see why the U couldn't meet the same fate. Though this would also need people that actually gave a shit about the console.

People that aren't morons.

why are you even here if all your going to do is pick fights?
That's obviously not the only reason why I'm here. There were two other quotes in my post, but you willfully glossed over those because you got singled out for bastardizing the English language. Seriously, though, why would you choose to type like that? Do you like to look like an ignorant individual? I'll never understand why people are too lazy to hit a button.

But that's just theft, no other way to look at it, running a server isn't free y'know? If they are going to spend money on good servers for better multiplayer the least we can do is pay them back for listening

I should also point out that the servers used for the Nintendo Switch are hosted by DeNA, Nintendo is more so borrowing them. So Nintendo has to pay loyalty fees for hosting their content on their server. Oh and good servers for better multiplayer you say? PSN didn't improve on performance when it required users to pay for their online multiplayer.

Really? Running a server isn't free? Just because they have to cover the costs to pay their employee for the maintenance? Not every business does that. The most likely scenario in which would require a business to relay costs onto their consumers to cover costs, would actually be because a business has signed a contract to the business that needs to use that enterprise's servers. So to cut costs, they have to relay it onto the consumers. Otherwise if they really were buying server hardware for themselves, they wouldn't have any need to relay the costs onto the consumer, because they can already afford it.

Either way, I'm gonna be the server thief. Muahahahahaha XD

emulating nintendo network servers should be easy enough i guess but you definitely aren't going anywhere lol
you're just showing a request that you do to some server to its ssl port, you don't seem to know what you are doing really.
if you want to emulate one of their servers, this definitely isn't the right way to do it.
plus, in order to do that, you will also have to retrieve ssl certificates for these servers from some 3DS sysmodule.
if you want to understand the communication, you will also likely need to reverse the nim sysmodule...
and if you ever want to use custom servers on your 3DS, you will need something like ctr-httpwn and/or patching some sysmodules.

Servers require bandwidth, electricity and maintenance which are all not free
The electrical bill for running server is gargantuan 24/7 servers suck up a ridiculous amount of electricity. Nintendo can't just buy an unlimited package from an ISP and host whatever they want, they have to get corporate server package where they pay for every TB or so which is definitely not cheap either
