Hey-o! I'm trying to use this trainer, but with limited success.

Using "TCPGecko + Kernel" at loadiine.ovh and then loading up my EN disc copy of XCX, I managed to successfully connect XCXGecko to my WiiU. I'm able to fetch and poke general and character trait values, but I'm unable to modify any data that requires me to cache slots, since any attempt to do so gets me a "read block failed" error:

cache isnt all that important
poking keeps it on even if you quit the game (only if you've saved)
but i ould be wrong

It's safe to swap music which is what I enjoy doing =D

Another thing is that you can manipulate the save file to get easy medals. The RP running group actually does this (yet they shun people hacking possible gear... lol hypocrites). You can scout 3 people, get them to max level (so releasing will give you 1 blade medals each, making 3 for all scouts). After they are fully leveled, save your game. Then, release them to get 3 medals. Quit the game without saving, reload, and you'll have the scouts back. Since the medals are stored on the server, you can keep repeating the scout release to get medals much much faster. Just release, reload, release, reload, release etc.

Wait you can swap music with a code? How do you do this? I'd love to be able to override the OD music so I don't always have to hear it. Edit: Or the damn flight music!

Also I didn't know that BLADE medals were stored on their server.

I think there's a misunderstanding on my problem. If the trainer can't Cache Slots properly, it can't access gear mod or item locations. Which means I can't edit them. And the read block failed error is happening with only those values, since I can still edit character traits and general values.

Is there a list for all the hexcodes for hairstyles? I'd like to experiment with using hairstyles meant for different presets.

@TGLaw I tried your guide for hex editing characters and did everything right (double checked within ascii and also compared to the bin file) and nothing changes. I'm using the US eshop version of the game.

It might be a problem with TCPGecko, go try to change the hairstyles from the RAM instead of modifying a .BIN file and uploading it. I'll also try this.

Tried that as well, still nothing. Tried other things like gender as a form of troubleshooting but that didn't do anything either.

Oh shoot. I forgot to write in the guide:

After applying changes, go to the party>active members screen, then hit "confirm" to update the changes.

lmk if it doesn't work and I'll try to see where I/you goofed up.

Dang. I know for 100% fact that it won't work without doing those steps afterwards. Editing the post
It worked, but sadly the spoiler hair doesn't work on my male protag :(
It sits like halfway through my head, I was gonna take a pic but when I opened the browser to upload to imgur it froze. Will try other female hair to make sure it's not just that style that's broken on guys.

Yeah female things on the males don't work right. Also, that's what happens with TCPGecko when you open the browser. Sucks :/ There might be a way to dump a screenshot or something but i dunno.

I'm using the NTSC-U version and the real disc, no Loadiine. Tried again what you said, still didn't work. And it did show the 4 letters of my Cross's name. I'm trying to get
True Form Elma's hair
on my Cross, so all you do is type 002A (the spoiler hair) in the YYYY part of the format? Like this: ZZZZ002A XXXXWWVV AABBCCCC DDDDEEEE ????FFFF GGGGHHHH UUUUTTTT SSSSRRRR QQQQ???? PPPPPPPP OOOOOOOO MMMMMMMM NNNNNNNN
Here's a screenshot of the bin in the editor, notice the 002A is the only part I edited
NxOYK1P.png
Sorry but any tips on this?

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150

Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
