The logo looks AMAZING kudos to the team, I've never played a game in the franchise but this one looks interesting.

Well well, this is looking great as always! Thanks for translating this one too.

Since this game already recieved an official update, maybe it would be possible to offer a patch to merge the translation files with the official update, so you don't have to patch and reinstall the full game every time? This would also allow it to work with the official cartridge. The MHX translation from @dasding worked this way, and I think it's easier than reinstalling the game and backing up/restoring the savegame every time. What do you guys think?

I did suggest this but it would remove the English Banner from the Home Menu, maybe we just need like a v1.0 that is the latest English Patch + that Banner then any future updates could just be done via the patch file to keep it smaller and easier to update.

Patch has kinda caused hassle since it actually changed some files in the base game that broke some translations, previous Taiko game did not have that problem so was fine to install the update.

Sounds good. I could like without the banner honestly (although the one Elratauru posted looks damn fine) so having a small one-time patch to replace the banner and then delivering all the TL files via update patch sounds like the way to go, especially since the update breaks stuff again as you already said. But what do I know :)

While this does sound like a good idea, I unfortunately can't get it to work. I've tried merging all of the patch files with the update, but what ends up happening is a mess of untranslated and translated assets, unfortunately. Plus another reason I am avoiding this is that it would pretty much double the size the game takes, which would suck up about 800MB of people's memory cards (if they are using the CIA version, that is).

But all that aside, I have gotten the 1.1 update fixed and partially translated. Sorry it has taken me so long! There is an issue though. When I added all the fixed files to the 1.1 update and reinstalled the CIA, my system keeps nagging me that there is an update available when I just installed it! I don't know if any other translation groups have experienced an issue like that when dealing with updates, but it is the sole thing preventing me from releasing the current patch right now. So if anyone knows anything about it, let me know! Here is a video highlighting the current status of the main game and the update.

Also, about the song titles since I discussed them in the video, here's a poll about whether or not we keep the japanese song titles or I release the current, sloppy japanese song titles and have someone else work on them. Input is appreciated here!

I've seen update CIAs have that bug in the past, I'm guessing its some way the CIA is built? no clue on how to fix it myself, but the Patch file alone can't be that big? could still put out the translated update with that as a caveat, I mean right now I've got the update nag since can't update to 1.1 without breaking the English :P

Would be nice to fix though, I don't think I've seen another English Patch also patch the update dad, either not having too or simply saying don't install the update >.<

I am torn when it comes to this matter, on one hand this is an English Patch so they really should be in English but to get them even close to looking right seems like so much effort when the game already has Song Previews that help you easily identify what you are after and I've even seen people not want the English Titles on the previous Taiko, almost doesn't seem worthwhile.

Can't forget about the DLC, even though we can patch them to be English its a hassle.

On another note before we get that nice shiny new 1.0 update that lets us use the games update as well I toyed with getting iOS Taiko songs into the 3DS version and had some success ;)

This is another reason I'm leaning towards just keeping Japanese Song Titles, they are much easier for me to re-create when it comes to Custom DLC as opposed to me spending way too long trying to get English to fit, porting songs is already a chore on its own, already have to let them auto play a few times till I get them to end correctly and take me to the score screen.

Now... if only I could find more up to date pack of iOS Songs... what I have is like a year old.

Wohoo! Patch version 1.0 and the patch for the 1.1 update have been uploaded! :toot:

Serious thanks to everyone on Team FULLCOMBO! Hope everyone has a blast enjoying the game! Be sure to read the instructions on patching the files before installing to avoid losing any saved data.

Damn, that's awesome! The days leading up to the release of a completely custom Taiko 3DS game (or at least one with completely custom DLC) is nearing closer and closer, haha! Hopefully you can find some more of the iOS songs. I know the new Android version is... weird, so I don't know if there are dumps of it's songs yet.

@DarkSynopsis
Do you have all of the songs?
http://taikotime.blogspot.com.au/2010/11/taiko-no-tatsujin-iostaiko-no-tatsujin.html
I would absolutely love if you could try to port of Relations from iDOLM@STER Live for You! with was released in 2011

I do not have all the songs, wish I did, I have 253 sitting in my iOS Songs folder looks like it goes up to Donder! Japan Playoff Pack 2 might be missing a few packs but nothing later then that pack.

Woo new Patch!!! Can't imagine it would be too hard to make a fully custom Taiko game if you opted not to care what happened with the Story side, could easily replace all the base songs but its easier to just add as DLC :) too many songs to port over though and not enough time and I'm lazy :P

Kinda amazed other Taiko games didn't have it.

FYI the none of the files files in the cia patch are executable. You probably want to chmod +x them and reupload.
Ah, I'm sorry but I am running windows right now and I don't know how to chmod it from here. I ran Linux for a few years before I built my current PC, but I remember that marking a shell script is as simple as just right clicking the file and marking it as executable. That might just be what people have to do right now, especially since I use a tool to generate the patches anyway and I'd rather not have to boot into a VM to mark them as executable or anything. Sorry!

You can use MinGW which is included in Git-scm for windows and cygwin.

Heh, so I ported that JoJo Theme from iOS and turns out it was DLC in 3DS2 >.< Doh! some how missed that, ah well it worked...

That's awesome! Could you release a patch? I'd love to play it myself.

Not really got anything to patch, since I build as its own DLC it would replace anything you have leaving you with the one song or I manually add it to the existing library of DLC which is possible but still means its gone in the future when more DLC hits.

Been working on a DLC Builder so can pick and choose which songs you want as DLC and it would generate a custom CIA, problem is I wanted to wait till I had all songs I could ported before releasing it but that is a huge task, might have to look into putting it out with what songs I have done now and putting out "song packs" in the future.

I mean the tool itself doesn't really change so adding extra songs to it is not a huge deal I just didn't want a ton of links to have all the songs, and wouldn't be something I can even post here since its pretty much piracy >.<

Sorry for the lack of updates guys!

Just letting you all know that I have just finished translating the song titles for the song select menu that appears on the bottom screen, and have sent the texture files to @tiduscrying.

Here's a sneak peek:

Along with these, I am planning on doing some cleaning-up with some of the minor graphical errors and adding some tiny things (like translating the spirit gauge). I've learned some tricks from the Taiko V translation, so I am going to apply them to make this one look super nice and shiny! Hopefully I'll have more to post soon!

As far as the mystery adventure portion of the game goes, there hasn't been any progress. Our translator, @shiduyo isn't working on Dokodon anymore and is working on Taiko V with me right now.
