@dimok Very nice! I'll definitely be giving this a try later on! To clarify, the middle link will be looking for syshax.xml, and possibly be safe to chain together with auto-booting haxchi in the future after more testing?

Hey everyone,

I've written something new. It's a full featured iosuhax cfw like thing with wupserver, /dev/iosuhax node, all the signature check patches and a full os reload which makes it a clean firmware again. The difference is, it does not require any fw.img on your SD card or else where. All the nice stuff is inside the ELF file and I can perfectly share it with everyone. The custom firmware is equal to the "make cfw" build on my iosuhax fork regarding the features. It even reloads itself like iosuhax when you enter settings and leave them again from memory (ELF file is only required on first launch). You are not loosing the patches or anything.

So here are some PoC builds that you guys can try out (and maybe report if you find something out of ordinary):
version with splash screen:
http://www99.zippyshare.com/v/Gr7qDsDA/file.html

version with splash for coldbooter:
http://www84.zippyshare.com/v/rWrDiPTf/file.html

and a small version without splash to show how small it can be (90% of the size is the splash screen):
http://www43.zippyshare.com/v/Q0pDbp60/file.html

I will also make a redNAND version later but its not done yet.

I am thinking of giving this thing a new name as it is not very alike to iosuhax as it was before. It is quite different. Though parts of iosuhax are also big part of it, like the wupserver. So I think it should be a name that reminds one of iosuhax or parts of it. We though of many funny names with @dibas, @Maschell, @Cyan and @pwsincd (like iosuramhax, yail (yet another iosuhax loader) or even NaCl) but nothing that we all agreed on. If you think of something nice, let me know.

Sources and stuff will come later. I need to clean it up a bit more and make it more dev friendly :P.
Do you think it's possible to make a version of this that can be installed permanently for permanent sigpatches? (not CBH, but something similar?)

How about "U-FW"?

Edit. Or "Ur-FW"

What steps should I take to migrate from dimok's fw.img fork, which is coldbooted by haxchi, to this? Do I just modify the syshax.xml to point at this ELF file? Where should I put it (SD or NAND)?

Hi,
Just tested out the new CFW IOSUHAX thing and I think I've found a problem loading V-Wii games. Just as the console reboots in to Vwii mode it freezes on a black screen and has to be unplugged to turn it off.

I've tried it a few times with the same results. Tested again with the old IOSUHAX and with the recent sig_patcher and it works fine with both of them.

As for a name, what about something straigforward like syshax, sysUhax or Usyshax.

Thanks for all your hard work on this. It's all coming together nicely.

Edit: Dumb message lol, my SD wasn't inserted properly which is why it kept failing to work

For anyone getting a -3 black screen, your SD isn't inserted properly or your SD card is faulty and no longer working.

Thankyou!

I'm using the first one from the op -"Here is a compiled version that will return to system menu (not full relaunch) after all patches are installed: http://www96.zippyshare.com/v/y4nR0uy8/file.html" which one would I change to? Or should i stick with the one I'm using.

Also I'm booting it with Haxchi atm

*EDIT* I also installed HBL to sysnand and it doesn't boot even after launching sigcheck :/ frozen black screen and I have to force reboot

Can anyone explain me, what is the difference between this iosuhax.elf and the sign_patcher.elf? For the signature patcher you do not need a fw.img on your sd either.
Is the only difference, that iosuhax.elf reloads after opening the settings menu?

The original sign_patcher.elf didn't have wupserver or /dev/iosuhax node

If I already hacked my vWii, I do not have any benefits by the wupserver, do I?
Or does the wupserver have more features than using the wuphax?
