the idea of pirating games for ps4 is nice and all but download times and file transfers would be awful.
when i had cfw on my ps3 it took a few days to download a 30gb game then transfer it via ftp.
so tbh its minimally appealing.
lots of fun psn store games id wanna try though
and dlc for free would be AA1

So could the PS4 run Windows because of its x86 chip?
It'd be awesome, but from my understanding, unlikely as windows isn't open the way linux is and thus couldn't boot using modified code (anyone correct me if I'm wrong please).

So could the PS4 run Windows because of its x86 chip?

We could do that on PS3 (wouldn't run well) if we had dedicated people. We did it on a N3DS there are consoles way more powerful than that. Also x86 chip is required for SteamOS not for Windows. I guess we could install Windows though if someone was dedicated to doing it like on N3DS.

Keep in mind they would have to be very dedicated. Linux is open source so its easier.

Well guys good news is since the 4.06 update patches the hack the developers will most likely release the exploit. I know they are hating on the guys who told the exploit too Sony, but honestly I love those guys right now! :yayps3:

Yes. There are many Windows apps/games ported to Wine. Although if no ported version is available porting it yourself is very hard.

What are you talking about? The whole point of Wine is to not having to port things, it just runs Windows binaries without any changes to them. That being said, of course a lot of programs will have bugs or simply not run at all, but that doesn't mean the program has to adapt, it simply means Wine needs to be modified/improved.

Also, what happened to the poll of this post? The percentage values for the options add up to a whole lot more than 100%...

Oh, and I wonder what would happen if someone were to install Virtualbox or something similar on their PS4 Linux distro, and try to run Windows from there. I'm gonna guess the PS4 hardware lacks some of the CPU extensions needed to get decent performance, but we don't know til' we tried right?

As for what I want from PS4 hacking: I want UHD BluRay playback for the PS4 Pro (which Sony should've included in the first place).
