Thank you so much! I was able to get it to work :D http://i.imgur.com/x31r5Og.png?1

Now I just have to get those IIDs updated (and lower his level) and then work on the text. One more question though, I know FEAT does an excellent job of converting the message files to a very easy to edit .txt file, but is there a way to simply make changes to that text file and be able to recompress it into the .bin.lz format? Or do I have to directly modify the .bin file it generates and then use DSDecmp to compress that back to .lz? Thanks!
Modify the .txt it creates and then drag the .txt into FEAT and it will build the .bin.lz for you. Really is a lifesaver when you're doing a ton of edits.

I use FEAT for both decompressing and recompressing text files - it can convert .bin.lz to .txt and from .txt to .bin.lz, so you shouldn't have to touch the decompressed .bin at all.

Not quite, we're still picking apart the sound archive used by the game. Until we figure out how to rebuild that, we can't really do much with sound editing.
Actually, @DeathChaos25 got imported sounds to work. Just check the last few pages of my Custom DLC thread or Deathchaos' tumblr.

We got them working with smaller BCSAR files like the kind used in the DLC. In order to do that, we had to build the archive from scratch using the dev tools.

Unfortunately, doing something like that with the base game's BCSAR file is quite a bit more difficult. So we can't, import sounds with the base game yet.

Should I use BatchLZ77 or FEAT to open the .bin.lz files, such as GameData.bin.lz?
Doesn't matter too much, but BatchLZ77 fails to decompress some files. FEAT fails sometimes too, but less often IMO. If you do run into issues decompressing files, open the file you are trying to decompress in a hex editor and delete the first four bytes, then decompress as normal.

@DeathChaos25 Is it possible to use your Twin Kanas patch with something like the Gay Fates hack?

It's an .ips patch that you apply to your own uncompressed GameData.bin, but yes, it should work, just remember to unpatch before going online as it could potentially cause a shadowban.
Yeah that's fine. I only do online stuff on my main save file, which is on a cartrisge that I'm not using for the hacks. I don't really do online stuff anyways.

Asking again since I finally got the tools to work on my laptop...when importing portraits, how do you avoid transparency issues like this or this? That first one feels especially odd, since I didn't touch the hair file...

Those look like they might be issues with your images. Just make the arts of the image you want to be transparent transparent.

I try, but there keeps being some issue with the outline, I suppose because part of the outlines on images tend to be semi-transparent? And I don't know how to make that in .tga files.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
