Don't worry, I think my Yellow game isn't functioning properly. I CAN link Crystal with Blue and Red (just tried, both work) so your Crystal CIA is working fine. I'm gonna download another version of Yellow and see what happens.

EDIT: Yes Yellow is legit from eshop

If Yellow is legit from the eShop, it must work. Are you sure you didn't downloaded a old VC injected copy of the game?

Yes I'm positive, I bought them myself.
Just tried Silver > Blue via Time Capsule and after selecting join and invite it just says "connection closed due to inactivity"

This is so strange. I've done nothing to my 3DS apart from downgrade them so don't know what's going on.
I downgraded my N3DSXL using the DSiware downgrade method with my hacked O3DS and did a system transfer. That's it.

It wasn't working because I had the Gen 2 graphics hack installed on Yellow\Red\Blue which I completely forgot about.
Just redownloaded the originals again from the eShop and trading is working like a charm.
Guess I'll just stick with the bad Gen 1 graphics lol

Im getting an error when i try to trade between Silver/Gold and Crystal i enter to the trade station and i get please wait in both 3ds and then it say connection error
English Crystal from that iso site
Spanish Gold/Silver also from the iso site any ideas?

The spanish banner has a spelling error and the typo that's been used it's not the same that was used in the rest of the virtual console releases. Traiver, do you mind if I make a proper spanish banner?

You can use this on stock FW, but you need a legit copy of Pokemon red, blue, or yellow from the eshop.

The problem is I can't dump my legit red or yellow using braindump no matter what I try. I get the following error:

"Failure during dumping. output is complete"

Just like a few others who've posted. I've tried everything so far.

Just curious more than anything, but is it normal to get a little graphical glitch at the start of each battle (wild and trainer battles) where sprites flicker for about 1/50th of a second in the bottom half of the screen? It happened with the other Gen 2 injects on the old VC emulator too so it seems to be more to be a quirk of the games. I just wondered if anyone else had seen this happening. I hadn't noticed it back in the day on GBC.

I think that's always just been a thing with gen 2 and emulators. I can't remember if it happens on an actual Game Boy, but I know it happens with VBA and I'm 80% sure it happens with the GB Tower in Stadium 2.

Is there a converter/hex-edit to make emulator saves be importable? When I rename my .sav from BGB emulator to sav.dat and try to import it the game says it is corrupted and must be initialized. In BGB I saved with and without "Save RTC in SAV file (VBA Compatible)"

Read this and use a hex editor to trim the save to the correct size. I have done this with Gold, Silver and Crystal:

when i used the braindump on pokemon yellow, bottom screen just turns red...
tried with other game (pokemon puzzle challenge), dumping works...

ps: im using pokemon yellow downloaded using funkeycia, pokemon yellow seed is also installed to prevent stucking in 3dslogo.

if you have cfw just go on that site an download the cias of them

A.) Braindump actually does work, but it can only seem to dump the RomFS of 9.6+ games. This is why most are seeing the 'incomplete' message thingy.
B.) You can't guarantee that alternatives will never arrive.
C.) When making tutorials, I follow all of my own steps to assure they are correct, and this worked. I need to figure out WHY.
