As mentioned numerous times, it's probably cheaper to just buy an actual Gameboy instead of this, but it is a pretty neat project I guess. I do wish they were a little more specific about the sizes supported, the dev version linked in the second post just claims "Phone size: 5-6 in" which isn't exactly specific. Does that mean 4.5" phones are out? Does it just stop directly at 6", or will it be able to accommodate the slightly larger phones like the Nexus 6 with it's 6.27x3.27 body?

It'd make a pretty neat retro controller for older consoles, though.

If you're serious about playing games on the go you're better off getting one of those phone bluetooth controllers or something. This is thing is expensive, big, relies on cartridges, and offers nothing you can't already get from a GBA-SP. You can't even use it as a controller for other games due to the retarded form factor and the lack of buttons.

Don't all smartphones use Micro USB? And like 90% of them have it at the bottom center. And if they place the USB connector on a cable instead of having it fixed in place, it would solve the problem of USB position on different phones. No need to have entirely different models.
My phone has it at the top! D:
And yeah a concern for me would be the different size phones and the differently placed usb sockets.

This exists solely to capitalize on nostalgia and people who want to show off that they still have games from 30 years ago. A pure waste of plastic.

If you're willing to carry 20 Game Boy game cartridges with you, you're willing to go all the way and get an AGS-101 SP, or even buy and backlight an original DMG for $40 and have it last longer than your phone battery.
Or you can do the obvious and use a bluetooth gamepad to play games through a better emulator than this thing uses.

I'm still curious to how this actually uses your game carts. All demos of it so far have been nothing but existing emulators off the play store.

Same way Hyperkin does for the Retron series. They read the cartridge data, load it into RAM, and run the dumped rom through an emulator someone else made. All this is is a cartridge dumper with buttons.
