Yeah same here. I just don't find it as good as people say but when its disabled it doesn't bug meI don't use cortana that much shes off
This 100%I'd say try Win 10 for a while.
If you like it then stick with it.
Otherwise just get a copy of 7 and wipe the HDD.
THANK YOU. Just fucking thank you.10 is a great operating system. I have none of the crappy software that "disables spying" because Microsoft isn't spying on you. None of that has been proven.
Please read my earlier post. Microsoft is collecting more telemetry on users and usage than before, which is a proven fact, and this (RUM) is used to aid in debugging and general product analysis. (Powers decisions like feature deprecation).THANK YOU. Just fucking thank you.
I'm just fucking tired of these aluminium thinfoil hat people.
The colour is customisable, you can choose almost whatever you like. Forced reboots are a configuration setting which can easily be disabled. (just remember - it's on by default!)to me them spying isn't (a main) issue, i care more of those notifications poping up and like the video shown before i'd hate to restart while im doing something important and i also dont like the ui since i am very used to the 7 look and i hate the purple background with "apps" to open even if it is a touchscreen laptop.
Nah, forced reboots can't (easily) be disabled. The thing is, they only happen when you choose to ignore updates, disregard all popups about needing to install updates and not turn your PC off for like a week straight. The colour is customisable, you can choose almost whatever you like. I do that with my Mac all the time - The little pop-up asks me to reboot, but makes the fatal mistake of allowing me to dismiss it "until tomorrow". Cue several-month uptime. Oops!Nah, forced reboots can't (easily) be disabled. I cant think of anything but forced updates which can be inconvenient but it rarely happens and if it does it must be something super important
Can't be disabled, sure, but can easily be delayed.Nah, forced reboots can't (easily) be disabled. The thing is, they only happen when you choose to ignore updates, disregard all popups about needing to install updates and not turn your PC off for like a week straight.
Yeah, that works for like a week, but after that it doesn't let you pick a date anymore and just gives a full screen popup with a message along the lines of "Rebooting in 15 minutes".Can't be disabled, sure, but can easily be delayed.
I delay updates all the time. I have a current pending update on my PC and I just set it to "update" at 3AM. Of course, my PC is off at that time, so it never actually updates.

Then why have I been doing it for almost 2 months?Yeah, that works for like a week, but after that it doesn't let you pick a date anymore and just gives a full screen popup with a message along the lines of "Rebooting in 15 minutes".
That's the wonderful thing about RUM - people have been doing it forever. Microsoft has had it around for ages, this is just the next step. BUT OH NO, IT'S TOTALLY A KEYLOGGER!!!The data they are collecting has, in fact, been known about since retail release. Sadly, people have taken it as "NSA" speak. Which is kind of ass backwards considering most modern day technology does almost the same thing. Y'know? Your phones, social media accounts and the like. You want your data to be effectively "safe"? Disconnect yourself from the world.
This is another thing. It's always recommended to clean install when upgrading. Specifically for driver sets. Some may not be compatible with the newer gen software.Given the experience that we had when updating 10 on my parent's PC (a PC that's ancient, built in 2008/2009), it simply refused to install proper GPU drivers for an old and somewhat new GPU, kept getting TDR video failure blue screens of death. I mean, maybe it's because the PC was so old that no GPUs, old or new were ever gonna run properly without it failing; we were forced to roll back to 7. I mean sure it may be more stable and have more features, but unless your PC can handle it without getting a BSOD from old hardware, I'm kinda neutral about the whole thing. That's just my take on it, it's up to you, just be sure all the drivers that need to be install, install properly and without BSODs.
Its going to take the deed to your house! Hide yo kids, hide yo wife! That's the wonderful thing about RUM - people have been doing it forever. Microsoft has had it around for ages, this is just the next step. BUT OH NO, IT'S TOTALLY A KEYLOGGER!!!
