Okay because mario and luigi paper jam gets an error screen, so maybe it needs a higher firmware

It's a emunand which means you have cfw. That means you can install whatever you want, Legit or not.

Try a different download of it. Also make sure you have the newest FBI.

That error typically means you're trying to install DSiWare on SD card.

That being said update your FBI to 2.2.1. It auto detects where to install
