Is it safe to update my EmuNAND to 10.5 with rx tools or just stay in 10.3? Also how do I use patches and dlc? Do I use FBI and just install it like a cia? I don't think this the board to ask but I installed a cia called Fire emblem fates translated special edition, does this edition have both version of fates?

From 9.9 on they force you to update when you launch the browser.

If i remember correctly you bypass this by loading up the page as fast as you can before the update nag

but my layout is different in 9.9 i can't do it as fast as he does because of that.

Yea, you can update emuNAND to 10.5 no problem Just install patches or DLCs using your CIA installer. It will patch/update the game you already have(it won't show up in the home menu as a title) c:

Absolutely, if you installed RxTools emunand first, you can use gateway to access that emunand.

I lost the track of the 3DS activity since my last one got stolen last year. I had a Sky3DS to play backups and I couldn't use homebrew since there were no true exploits at that time, so I have a few question before I buy a New 3DS in the coming days.

What I got so far is, that you can run homebrew on the latest firmware using browserhax, right?
Is there also a way to run ROM backups from the SD card meanswhile? If yes, which firmware can be exploited to do this?
Anything else I should be aware of when buying a new 3DS and wanting to run homebrew and backups?

Newbie questions, but there is just too much information on here so I feel kinda lost.

yes
9.2 or lower can run cfw . . .
9.3 to 10.3 can be downgraded to 9.2 then . . .
10.4 to 10.5 can be hard-modded (if your skilled with solder . . . or send it to a skilled trusted person on gbatemp ) then downgraded to 10.3 . . . then be downgraded to 9.2 then . . .
