I prefer injecting a game when possible, but I haven't found a solution for games like Donkey Kong Country 3 that don't save. (By solution I mean, emulator)

I use injection. Guaranteed full speed, games with custom banner and since i installed CTRboot manager it's not so bothersome to reboot my 3DS. Yes, i have to install them on both SysNAND and EmuNAND but whatever, it's not like something is going to brick.

Playing GT Advance 3 and the 3 GBA Castlevania like that feels so gooooood :3

RX-Sysnand over here, injection is the way to go :)

Running an O3DS XL means you prolly' don't have the ability to run them fullspeed ROMs so yeah. sysNAND will hardly brick with these things anyways, as long as you install' em properly and you have a properly set up 3DS :)

Which version of gpSP do you use? I got flickering lines when I don't use a filter and then it randomly freezes forcing me to close the app (so I lose all the unsaved progress).

that dynarec you guys are talking about, is that enabled by default? (i have a N3DS)?
And what filters are you using?
The only way to have Dynamic Recompilation is to use CFW and install the CIA version of gpSP. If you have those requirements, it should be enabled by default.
Filters are, well, image filters that for example help games look good when upscaled. You can change them on the Video configuration.

dynarec should also work if you use the .3ds (Gateway) version, or the .3dsx on 9.2 and lower. just want to mention this...

This was a nice poll. 71 votes! I'm happy to see that gba injection won because that's the best way to play gba games on the 9.2 3ds :)

Just figured I'd add that gba injection didn't win because it is superior. It won because a majority of people still own the o3ds, which is understandable. If I didn't own a n3ds I'd probably prefer injection. But with the n3ds you actually have the superior choice of using gpsp in its full glory. So really the problem is the amount of users with both systems. Gpsp is the exclusive superior option and beats injection in about almost every way.

I don't agree. I have a N3DSXL. I like the injection better. I think the gpsp is too buggy. And I want perfection :)

Higher compatibility + runnable on lesser hardware makes it superior.

Despite never actually trying to do the AGB_Firm method I would like to add my input.

I am using GPSP and playing Pokemon Leaf Green just fine as well as Legend of Zelda Minish Cap. Everything is working as it should except for Multiplayer and Linking.
I haven't encountered any issues unless it's something wrong with "the most bleeding edge nightly build" which I just rollback.

I hear that the graphics are much better using GPSP.
But it sounds pretty cool to think that with AGB your GBA game roms are running exactly as on a GameBoy Advanced.

I wonder how multiplayer and linking will turn out and if there will be any progress made when Pokemon Blue and Red are released for Virtual Console with multiplayer linking.

So, at the end, AGB_Firm vs GPSP? Which offers a better experience? What are we ultimately comparing?

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

    Booo.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
