I think you should wait until the newer kernel exploits come out, and then you can get, for example, Girls mode 3 which has 9.5 update, then use the exploit to downgrade to 9.2.

This update server method is just too unreliable.

Yeah, I seen the recent announcements, so keeping it on 8.1 won't do no harm a bit longer I suppose.

Well the private update server is confirmed reliable days ago, since i've know at least 10 guys have get the system updated well to 9.1.

Yes, if they can release something wonderful before ninty update and break something. eh, but some vulns aren't blockable.

even if you update to 9.5, you're still browserless. aren't the HAX stuff using the browser exploit?

ATTENTION!!! IF YOU HAVE A 8.X NEW 3DS UPDATE TO 10.3 NOW!! Then use sysupdater to downgrade. I have downgraded from a 9.9 jpn console will success. FOLLOW THE TUTORIAL PLEASE!! There is a cia you shouldn't install unless you want to brick. With that being said, Nintendo is planning on making a 10.4 update on the 12th of January 2016. Update before that. It is your best shot right now. I am working on a few sneaky ways to bypass things for updating but seriously update like now.. Spread the word. If you don't welp I tried. I'll make a new thread which will be requested to be locked with no posts but it'll have exactly a tutorial to follow.

What if you used the new sysupdater and chose update instead of downgrade (could use Ninjhax 2.5 to get into HBL)? The problem before was that the only "CFW" available was gateway, and updating in Gateway mode would brick. But now a CFW is not required to run the new sysupdater. Right?

Well.... Let's imagine you're on 10.3..... and you run it to "update to 9.2"..... well it's going to say it's already updated and move along thus no downgrade.

Yes downgrading is a great method, here's a thread about it from 8.1J to 9.1J:
http://gbatemp.net/threads/n3ds-8-1j-to-9-2j-is-there-a-new-solution.407938/
Indeed, It's a way for all of you users to get unstuck with a slight risk of bricking however... I do have some theories but I need some little testers to try them ;) This method only works until the 12th... Tuesday... update before hand.

I'm talking about getting from 8.1 to 9.0-9.2.

Also not to be "that guy" but we have had access to the files and had the ability to host our own updates for awhile now... Yet people still are stuck on 8.1... If they couldn't figure it out then why would they bother once I say to downgrade?

Still curious about that 000400102002CA00.cia us JPN N3DS owners had to remove when downgrading and got a couple of questions:

1. yifan, this cia is in your 9.2.0-20J response you crafted here:
https://gist.github.com/yifanlu/bdcd22073cb5096942bb
How come this title is ok when you guys updated with the server method from 8.1J to 9.2J but we had to remove it for the downgrade method otherwise it'd brick?
Is there a workaround to install it afterwards?
I looked into what it is and this 000400102002CA00 is described as a "newlist". What the heck is a newslist on 3DS?

2. To the users who used the server method when N still hosted the files : did you end up on 9.2J or on 9.1J like we downgraders got?
yifan said "there was only two titles changed in that update", between 9.1J and 9.2J, I wonder which they are and if we could just install them on our 9.1J to end on 9.2?

Indeed you have to remove this title CIA when you need to build server for 8.1 to 9.2 update. Or else this CIA could cause a update failure.
I doubt if the CIA for this title is not the one before in his gist, i mean its signature is broken thus it can not be installed without sigpatch.
For 9.1 to 9.2.. Yellows8 server log doesn't contain 9.2 for JPN N3DS however you can filter those with javascript to get a full list of 9.2 JPN N3DS.
And the actual difference between 9.1 and 9.2 is merely something, since most of us are benefited from EmuNAND that is not really a great deal.
See here: https://www.3dbrew.org/wiki/9.2.0-20 HomeMenu and CVer (for system version string) are updated. These two titles could be installed safely.

hmm I don't recall @laramie or @Ronhero ever mentionning that, and how come it was no problem when yifan/Oishikatta updated from N directly with this title included?

so you're saying 000400102002CA00 from the "fake" 9.2J cia pack from that iso site is just invalid/corrupted?

Yes, I found the titles changed but no clue about their version..
0004003000008202 (Home menu)
000400DB00017202 (CVER)

I have all the 9.2j files downloaded with 3DSNUS before they were taken down... is this what people have been needing all along?
@Tokiopop did you end up sharing these files somewhere?
It'd be interesting to see your 000400102002CA00.

There is no record for it on yellows8 server, orz.
0004003000008202 JPN Home Menu v13313, v14336 9.0.0-20 (stage3), 9.1.0-20J
0004003000008F02 USA Home Menu v11272, v12288 9.0.0-20 (stage2), 9.2.0-20
0004003000009802 EUR Home Menu v11272, v12288 9.0.0-20, 9.2.0-20
However it should not be a great deal, just use TMD CDN link structure and test out the range, between 9.1 and 9.3.
For the CVer, maybe there is 9248 version for N3DS. This title is shared between O3DS and N3DS
000400DB00017202 JPN CVer v9218, v9232 9.0.0-20 (stage3), 9.1.0-20J
000400DB00017302 USA CVer v9218, v9248 9.0.0-20 (stage2), 9.2.0-20
000400DB00017102 EUR CVer v9218, v9248 9.0.0-20, 9.2.0-20
In fact you can check what the version is, inside a O3DS 9.2 Update pack.[/QUOTE]
Home Menu and CVer aren't N3DS specific, try find those inside a O3DS update pack of 9.2.

Try compare it with what you have. Yeah this should not be an important title.

Yes I put them on that one website.

I ended up disabling that title in GetSystemUpdate_response.xml by changing <Version>0</Version> to <Version>1</Version> because the update would just error out every time until I did it.

Despite being 9.2, system settings says I'm on 9.1. Presumably because of that title?
