Any chance you can post step-by-step the install steps you took? There's so many different guides out there but whichever one you used was clearly the best!

I just installed mset and timewarp cia on sysnand like everyone else. Didn't do anything extra and exploit doesn't get removed when launching blue card for some reason.
Also, I installed nvram AFTER the mset downgrade unlike on the gw website's guide. I never touched nvram install before downgrade. Maybe thats the reason but I don't think it is.

the order in which nvram is installed surely cannot make a difference... right?
i just saw that creativeman, gamesquest, have the hacked whitelist cia installed.
i don't.
although, i think i saw someone who does not have it installed, and theirs sticks..... lol

After installing flashcard timewarp and using the blue card the exploit is still wiped every time I run a DS game. I also tried reinstalling the mset cia after installing flashcard timewarp, didn't make a difference. I tested using 3 different games: Pokemon Black 2, Star Fox Command and Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, all produced the same result. Note that I only tested with retail games, I didn't try using a DS flashcard to run games. On the bright side the blue card works on my N3DS now! XD

What's all of this about installing nvram and an ROP installer? All I see that's needed is the mset.cia and (optionally) timewarp.cia for old flash carts. What's the purpose of the other two things?

NVRAM is the ROP chain setup for the N3DS. You need to run it if you want to launch Gateway from the DS profile settings. If you have a DS flashcard, you can reinstall the ROP chain using an ROP installer nds file.

Try hold select while launching ds mode. Exploit should get removed with this method.

i just load my dsiware game, no buttons, the exploit gets removed. (but i want it to stay!)

once we have the old settings, we need to install the exploit to it :) (nvram data install)
the rop installer thing is just a ds rom that does the same thing, like the gw blue cart installer for 4.5 old3ds

The nvram is needed to install the 4.5 system settings app, the rop installer is a quicker way of reinstalling the mset exploit then gateways way of a swapping out for a non emunand mSD card for the install.

no, you don't need to swap anything to install the rop, you just need to load the gw launcher
maybe you are thinking of installing the system settings cia, which if you do that in gw mode, you will need to do it without emunand on your sd card yes

I have a eur new 3ds xl on 9.0. First I booted up gateway and did the nvram install in the menu, then I went into sysnand with devmenu and installed both timewarp.cia and the mset.cia. I turned it all off and tried the profile exploit and it works. However when I use the blue gateway card and play a few nds games the profile exploit gets removed, so I use the rop installer when I use the blue card to reinstall the profile exploit. The profile exploit has never stuck for me, always goes after playing a nds game and the blue card

You misunderstood me, I was saying that the N3DS_ROPInstaller is quicker than gateways method of installing the mset exploit because the gateway method has you remove the mSD card for one with no emunand on it to install the mset_.cia, the roploader only needs a nds card.

once the mset.cia is installed you don need to install it again, all you have to do us the nvram install in gateway menu and the profile exploit is back. you don't need to swap your emunand sd card out.

But that would need to use the OoT or CN exploit, with the roploader I just select it on my dstwo after Im done playing games on it. less hassle.

you dont need to remove the SD to install the NVRAM exploit, thats only needed the once to downgrade MSET in sysnand

I know, the others are the ones saying to do that, I just use the roploader if I need it, blarg, everyone has their own methods, Mine is just reuse the roploader by zoogie if I loose the exploit due to my supercard.

yeah tbh its personal preference, but using the roploader is easier/cheaper as you can sell off your oot/CN if you dont think you will need them again, once you downgrade MSET and the whitelist all you need is the red and blue gateway cards

Ah, nvram is the blue card installer equivalent. I never had a 4.5 DS and didn't downgrade my old one so that explains that. I may end up trying this tonight to see if the mset sticks on my console or not, maybe I'll get lucky and post results afterwards.

well in an attempt to figure it out i have just tested the various whitelist setups and it seems its not related to what whitelist you have
for each whitelist i wiped the NVRAM, reinstalled it, booted the blue card/retail carts and seen if it was wiped
for spoofed,v0 AND v11264 the exploit stuck even after launching DS titles.......time to look elsewhere for a cause....what size nands do people have maybe, mine is a 1.8gb nand

I don't have the whitelist installed so it could be that why my exploit is lost but N3DSXL with a nand size of 1.84 GB (1,979,711,488 bytes).
