NX REVEAL BOIS
According to the Nintendo investor meeting that took place yesterday, the NX will launch in March of 2017
It appears as though we just got a confirmation that the NX will indeed be cartridge based:
Since I have my own source within the gaming industry who was proven right with Majora's Mask 3D:
- The NX will be cartridge based, because of limited space on discs(my source was not aware of the fact Nintendo uses special blu-rays on the Wii U though) although flash chips might be cheaper to produce. This also means it will not be backwards compatible with Wii (U) discs.
- The NX will be a cross-over console containing both a handheld and a home console in one.
- It will get multiple ports from the Wii U
- The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword might get an HD remake because of the success of The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess HD
It's up to you what your opinion is about this all, I know this could be some very credible information since I know the backgrounds of this guy.
A correction on the last update as provided by @wurstpistole:
@TotalInsanity4 you made the reach and limit news sound like april fools, but this news is older.
Also I have many sources for you, from the last days. All stating basically the same.

Google translated most important feature list:
Here you have listed the most important information clearly:
The console is Nintendo Reach, appearing in 2 variants, a stationary and a portable
The stationary version will launch in Christmas 2016, while the portable will be in mid 2017
The games are sold on small memory chips, similar to the Nintendo 3DS
The handheld will be like having the lower half of the 3DS, and will have a "Head Tracking" feature
It will have voice chats, cloud storage and will give "MyNintendo" missions
The cloud storage works between the stationary console and handheld
The main console will cost 350 US $
The handheld will be sold for 199 US $
In addition, some information about the first games were leaked:
As starting games are "The Legend of Zelda - The Fields of Dawn", a new Mario game called "Mario Underground", and a new branch of Animal Crossing planned
The new Mario game plays in Truffle Kingdom, which lies under the ground
Mario Underground will focus on its history and you can take against underground variants of familiar characters
Annually published series parts of Ubisoft, EA and Activision are ready to start
VERY interesting rumor from a German Source. It details that Nintendo will be going back to cartridges, potentially with extra features included, and outlines launch titles, including "The Legend of Zelda: Fields of Dawn", and "Mario Underground". Take this with a heaping helping of salt, because despite looking legit, this IS April Fool's day. https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=de&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http://www.playm.de/2016/03/nintendo-nx-name-preis-erste-launch-titel-und-mehr-durchgesickert-283057/&edit-text=&act=url
Another rumor about an official release date has graced us, but take it with a grain of salt: http://blogs.barrons.com/asiastocks...-nx-to-eat-into-3ds-wii-u-nomura-cuts-target/
According to analyst Junko Yamamura, Nintendo will make NX available by 2016 year-end’s shopping season. Nomura expects Nintendo to announce the “concept” sometime between March and May, unveil the actual console in June, and launch it between October and November. “We think the NX will start to boost operating profits in 18/3, when it will have been on the market for a full year and will have a line-up of software titles, which carry high operating margins.”
Another patent came out of the woodwork. Nintendo is leaving quite the paper trail, at least when it comes to design concepts.

Nintendo invents a gamepad built from a touchscreen
A recent patent application envisions a game controller where a touchscreen is the main interface.
Nintendo has said precious little about its plans for the NX (other than that it won't be like a Wii U), but it might have hinted at what's coming through some recent paperwork. The console maker has filed for a patent on a gamepad design where a touchscreen would cover the entire front panel. You'd still have familiar elements like analog sticks (poking through the display) and shoulder buttons, but the usual front-facing buttons would be replaced by context-aware touch. The move would give you the adaptability of a smartphone interface with the primary controls you're used to in a TV system -- you could even use the controller on its side, or get visual effects when you press buttons. It wouldn't require a gigantic body like the Wii U's gamepad, either, and a card slot could take game data directly.
This is just an application, and there's no certainty that Nintendo will use this design any time soon, if at all. However, as The Verge notes, the would-be patent does line up with rumors that Nintendo will use Sharp's free-form displays in a future product. Theoretically, this could be the technology behind the NX's standard-issue gamepad. Moreover, the Wall Street Journal has heard that the NX would include a "mobile unit" that could be used separately from the main console. Given the presence of that card slot, it's possible that you could play titles solely on the gamepad and take it with you -- who needs separate TV and handheld consoles when your NX is both at the same time? The finished machine could be far less exciting, but it's evident that Nintendo has at least been thinking about non-traditional hardware.

http://www.shacknews.com/article/92...ntering-mass-production-at-the-end-of-q1-2016
Note from OP- I would like to add that while 10 million units sold in the first year is the manufacturer's estimate, Nintendo HQ actually has an even more optimistic estimate of 20 millionUpstream supply chain expects new Nintendo games console to achieve 10-12 million unit shipments in 2016
Aaron Lee, Taipei; Joseph Tsai, DIGITIMES [Monday 30 November 2015]
Nintendo's new game console is scheduled to enter mass production at the end of the first quarter 2016 and despite the fact that the Japan-based company is targeting to ship 20 million units in 2016, the device's upstream component suppliers expect shipments to only reach around 10-12 million units. Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) reportedly has been chosen to manufacture the device, but the company declined to comment on its clients or orders.
The new console is estimated to enter mass shipments in the second quarter. In addition to Foxconn, suppliers such as Foxconn Technology, Macronix, Pixart Imaging, Coxon Precise Industrial, Nishoku Technology, Delta Technology, Lingsen Precision Industries and Jentech will also supply components for the device.
Digitimes Research expects Microsoft's Xbox One and Sony's PlayStation 4 to achieve shipments of 13 and 18 million units, respectively in 2016, and if Nintendo's new console is able to ship 10 million units in the year, the company will then be able to maintain its competitiveness in the market.
Nintendo started pushing out NX Development Kits to developers today
Adding to this, remember that patents are usually just conceptual drawings; the final product will almost certainly not have only two face buttons. Another exciting thing is that "24L/R" is labeled as analogue scroll wheels with force feedback! Here's what I'm coming up with based on the rumors out there that I remember. AMD is designing the hardware, and PowerPC is pretty much dead. The NX might as well have PC-like hardware similar to the Xbox One and PS4. Will it be as powerful? Who knows, but I might know why it would be possible, even at the lower price rumor. PC technology is ALWAYS growing and getting faster, even by months at a time. Manufacturing prices of parts are ALWAYS cheaper than getting a single one as a consumer, because manufactures get items in bulks rather than individually. When the Xbox One and PS4 were announced, that was literally $400 worth of technology packed in those systems, the One being $500 because of the Kinect being included. Nowadays, those same specs will be MUCH cheaper, probably anywhere between $250 to $300 in manufacturing per unit. That also explains why the PS4 is getting a ridiculous price drop in Japan, because of how cheaper the parts are now since they're already obsolete by PC standards, as AMD made the parts, the PS4 will cost around $292 in Japan now. If AMD is going to throw their new High Speed Memory into their next generation console, Nintendo can get away with manufacturing a console (NX) for between $250 and $300 easy. There's also a new patent on the controller/portable-console, if the NX is going to be an OS rather than a system, we won't have to worry about a hybrid console hindering price for performance, although we already know that rumor was rendered void according to OP. They will probably work together like the Vita and PS4 do, again, we won't know until there's official confirmation on that.
There's another new rumor that recently popped up; the NX "portable" is going to be launched in 2016 after E3, but the Wii U will not be replaced until 2017. Until then, there may only be a refresh, if anything, but it will have at least one more major update to make it compatible with the NX OS (not necessarily replace the current OS, though). On top of that, the portable may or may not be backwards compatible with 3DS titles, depending on how drastic of a hardware difference it is (it will likely at least modestly outspec the Vita)
What we know
- Processor for next home console will most likely be manufactured by AMD, NOT IBM as with previous consoles
- The next console is NOT being solely designed by anyone at Nintendo (Miyamoto typically designed in the past), they are bringing in people from AMD to help
- "NX" is most likely not a console itself, but the OS/platform consoles will run on (similar to iOS)
- It IS NOT a "Fusion" console (i.e. a portable console that has a base station that will turn it into a home console)
- Nintendo recently published a patent for a console without a disk drive or cartridge slot. This may be a patent for a Wii U refresh, or it may be an early NX design.
- PowerPC architecture is very clearly a dead end, and AMD would most likely never be caught dead designing a console with PowerPC. Because of that, they will most likely design it so that both home and portable console branches use either x86 or ARM. Because it is very difficult to downscale x86 for portable use in a useful way, both consoles will MOST LIKELY use ARM (significantly upscaled/overclocked for home version)
- We will most likely get one console and one portable in the NX lineup to start, and eventually get different versions running the same firmware later on (again, similar to iOS, PC, etc. Best recent example would be Windows, running on both phones and PCs with minimal differences)
