Homebrew GameYob 3DS - GB/C emu

File extensions are irrelevant. It's possible that there's a misunderstanding. It might be the bios colorization which you want to turn off. I'm not sure what Steve did with that, but perhaps turning off the "bios" option will do the trick.

I replaced the BIOS requirement with built-in color palettes. In my current build, GBC mode "Off" makes only GB games work in black in white, "If needed" makes GBC games work but GB games aren't colorized, and "On" makes GBC games work and colorizes GB games.

Okay. In my mind these are 2 different things which should be toggled independantly - the 1st is when to use GBC mode, and the 2nd is whether or not to colorize games running in GB mode. I think some people would prefer to have GBC games working normally while playing GB games in their original black-and-white, since their colorization isn't all that good. Anyway that's my take on it.

That's exactly my request.

Maybe I do something wrong, and I would need to retry to be sure, but whatever the option I choose, I either get all the games black & white (gbc ones included) or all in color (gb ones too). I though "if needed would be gb = black & white ; gbc = color but I had somes gbc in black and white with that option).

If I read correctly what you said, gb = black & white and gbc = color would require it to be on "if needed". I will retry.

About the colorization, on a GameBoy Color, there are different palettes depending of the input pressed during the GameBoy Logo, something you can't change on the emulator. Dunno if it can be implemented easily but it might be a nice feature.

That's exactly what "If needed" is, though. When playing a GBC game, it works as normal in GBC mode. When playing a GB game, it plays in black and white.

EDIT: OH, I think I see what you're saying. Some GBC games have GB mode, don't they? Alright, I'll separate the toggles.

It's not just a matter of GB games and GBC games. There are dual-mode games, ones which can either be played in GB mode or GBC mode. Pokemon Yellow, Gold, and Silver are examples. As I had it implemented before, "As Needed" would turn off GBC mode for these games, and only turn it on for games like Crystal where it's a requirement to boot the game.

Generally most people will want to leave that option at "On", because most people don't want to turn off the built-in colorization in those games. So the option was more of a curiosity than anything else. If you changed this behaviour, then it's a different story...

Pokemons games were the games I tested and were "black & white" with "if needed" option so now, it make sense why I got the problem.

Yeah, completely forgot about the dual-mode games. Separating the option now.

Okay, done. Under "Display", there's an option called "Colorize GB" now. It's options are "Off" for black and white, "Auto" to auto select the appropriate palette, and various other options to manually select a color palette.

Do you have a Github or bitbucket for the source? I'd love to tinker with it, and the one on the first post seems out of date.

Sounds like the volume for gameyob has been lowered in this new build.

The volume has not been lowered, or at least not intentionally. It may be because of a recent ctrulib change, though, so I'll check into it.

EDIT: To be honest, though, the volume seems fine as it is now.

Exactly. Volume is better how it is now. Prior Releases seemed to be a bit Loud. As it stands now, GameYob is AWESOME. Like I was mentioning, a 3D Banner would be good. Dont know if you could see about the Dev at BlargSnes or someone else to help design one.

Yeah, its probably because a recent ctrulib change added a volume field to the sound function. It does seem to be just right.

And yeah, GameYob is getting to the point where its pretty complete/stable. I still need to figure out the Pokemon Pinball issue, though.

Really appreciate all the work, steveice10... I'm just missing two features: 1) unfiltered scaling 2) having the clock on the lower window. I do remember Drenn giving reasons for both things not being present, maybe they are possible now?

The scaling filter option is there, however apparently it doesn't work properly. Fixed now. Don't know why you'd need a clock though...?

Additionally, I re-implemented autosaving from the DS version, fixed a few misc things, and made a bunch of changes internally.

EDIT: If you downloaded, please redownload. Had to make a few adjustments to rendering code.

I just noticed the single screen option is doing the same as the "Game Screen" one (Top/Bottom).

Normal behavior?

I really appreciate your work Steveice! Once you figure out the Pokemon Pinball issue we will have a really stable and complete GB(C) Emulator. Thanks a lot to you and Drenn of course!

It's already pretty stable ;) A compatibility problem with one game is not really a major flaw, though it'll be better when it'll be fixed, of course.
