well its usually sold off to twitch streamers and "lets play" people first as they pay for early rom access (or so i have heard)......probably be like MM dumped very early and not released publicly for a while

I'm not hearing any news if it is possible to dump yet.. especially on the iso site.

Sorry, make that ~25hrs. Maths fail.

I'm picking it up on my way to work. Unless someone gets in before me, I'll be able let people know whether it works on Gateway's 9.5 emuNAND off the bat, whether it requires an update if on a 9.0 sysNAND and such.

I'll also attempt to dump it via Gateway's loader. But I won't know if it has been a successful dump and whether it runs as a .3DS from the red card and how it reacts to a non-new3DS until I get home from work 7 hrs later.

Hopefully someone else will be able to answer those questions before I am able to.

They're already pushing it enough as it is. The N3DS won't let you do a system transfer to an Old.

And the Old XL is not that old. There are lots of users who just bought one, and wouldn't be thrilled if Nintendo neglected the Old platform. Also, the Amiibo reader for the Old is scheduled for release in a few months.

My guess is, at first, barring a couple of truly exclusive titles, newer games will be playable on the Old but might have extra features only available on the New. From then on, we will see either more N3DS exclusives or more Old-compatible games, depending on sales.

It will be just like other portable revisions like the Game Boy Color and the DSI. The GBC did well, so lots of GBC-only games came out. The DSI didn't, so publishers had to keep DS compatibility to make a profit.

Nintendo will kill off the old 3ds with the n3ds games.
I willing to bet there will be alot of new games using the c-stick.
So that would promet the old 3ds owenrs to buy a cir pad pro.
Then slowly they will take use of the better ram and the old one will be dead. Lol.

It would be a good thing tho. Backwards comp, always holds backs a new system.

And i hope the n3ds games will work with sky3ds.
I dont know if nintendo will have added protection or not. At first they probably wont tho

or what if in early 2014, all of nintendo was taken over by illuminati. then they released a new 3ds to slowly plummet the forums into chaos. "Today: the forums, Tomorrow: THE WORLD!"

Do you have a Sky3DS by any chance? Can you test on that?

When Xenoblade is loaded on a non-New 3DS, it simply displays a message that says the game is New 3DS software. The old 3DS can even detect and show an icon on the home menu and everything, but it simply shows the prompt that it's New 3DS software. Keep in mind the following picture is not from my copy of the game or 2DS for that matter. :P

Won't work that way either. ROMs are loaded from a .3ds file, which will obviously contain the check to make sure you're playing on a new 3DS. Gateway/Sky don't patch the original ROMs in anyway (unless you consider allowing them to be played a patch), so they can't remove the limitation.

Even if you edited the ROM to remove the check, it would crash when trying to play on a regular 3DS because the game will address cores and RAM that simply don't exist on the regular 3DS.
