  • How do i know if i'm in sysNAND or emuNAND?
    • Check in System Settings, near the system version. RX-S stays for sysNAND, while RX-E stays for emuNAND. Be sure to be in emuNAND before updating.
Just as an FYI, jumped back into the system settings twice in a row, and the second time, it kicks back the regular system version (without the RX prefix). Not sure if this is just a bug with the version display, or if you are actually dropped out of RX mode after checking the system settings.....

System Settings restarts the console when exiting, so you are kicked from any patched FIRM that you was using.

That's not a bug. It works like that in Gateway EmuNAND too. When you exit System Settings, the system always kicks you back to SysNAND for some reason. I think it's because it reloads the NAND redirection info and kicks you out to SysNAND.

One thing I don't get is how does rxTools modify the SysNAND system version string? Is it like how you can boot into Gateway-mode SysNAND using a Gateway 3DS flashcard and an SD Card without any EmuNAND formatted onto it?

Maybe this isn't the best advice to check before doing a system update then? :wtf: Is there some way to print off the system version elsewhere so we don't have to go through the system settings and get booted out?

No matter what you have to go into settings to get to the update tab. Once you go in just don't exit but go straight to the system update. Keep things simple and no issues will happen. But remember to have emunand already on the SD card. I seen too many times that is the main cause of updating sysnand instead.

I think a string in the ram of the 3DS will be edited while launching the exploit.

Luckily you have the backup of your sysnand.
I hope you can find a good modifier in your city, and especially that you pay the right face.

I am really sorry for your upgraded console!
Didn't expect it, it's really strange, i didn't had this problem, i updated my console too without any problem.
It can be an issue just for you, but i'll obviously check what this can be.
For now, AVOID TO UPDATE.
This evening i'll try to fix all the issues.

just want to ask some question about firmware.bin... what exactly the file size of firmware.bin? is it big?
cuz i used the cdn_firm.exe and it downloaded the firmware.bin with a file size that is less than 1MB (965,632 bytes to be exactly)...

did i downloaded the right file?
is this firmware.bin a file that is constant (not changing), for example, if i backed up this firmware.bin, and nintendo have a new update, is this file usable or do we need to download a new firmware.bin every time theres a new system update?

sory for my bad english... not my native language...
anyway thanks and have a nice day...

wtf is wrong with you dude, is it in your nature to insult people? and gateway really didnt intentionally enable piracy. they were the first to make emunand and a real collabrative effort. So, do you wanna play this game? or do you wanna buy that game?
Yes evidently so, because this is the third time in as many days that I've had to apologise to someone.

I'm frequently blunt, and often impetuous, but I rarely go out of my way to make people feel shitty.

I'm not sure there was a more delicate to make my statement. You clearly don't understand why all the talented 3DS devs have taken a strong anti-piracy stance. It's not a personal attack, but a statement of fact.

With the maturity comment I was suggesting you failed to see the bigger picture here. Had you considered that perhaps Roxas and the other 3DS devs wish to have a career that involves the skills they use developing for the 3DS? Being credited as someone who provided the first flashcart-free piracy solution for the 3DS isn't exactly something you can put on your resume. It could destroy his career before it's even began.

Again, sorry if you felt insulted by comment. It wasn't my intention.

I hate ordering stuff online if I can go buy it somewhere close to me, and everywhere anymore will give you a discount only if you order it online, bs. Should be a discount if I go pick it up, not order online.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I love it for most things most stores you just shows the receipt online and they scan it

Makes it easy for incompetent restaurant staff that don't know how to hear an order
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Mostly for big purchases, I want it in my hands before I pay. Like a tv, I trust picking it up myself, before I'd trust it being sent thru mail/delivery. (Broken screen, etc) But yea if I can order online, then pickup at store is ok, but not all places offer that.

Thing is, if you break it driving back to your house, it's your fault. But if the delivery driver damages it, it's not your fault.

Most people that haul big tvs have empty trucks or know enough not to set it face down
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Then I gotta send it back and wait another week or two. I have a pickup truck, with a extended cab, so no prob for me.

Most manufacturers pack it well enough where they aren't that dumb to let it happen
