Could you please add an option to disable Home returning to loader? Sometimes I hit it accidentally mid-game when pausing with + on the classic pro.
Or maybe having to hold it for half a second before returning, like the power button behaves.

Thanks for the amazing software!

Hey there, I'm looking to report an issue, but I need a bit of help.
I'm having a lot of audio cutouts in melee. I'm using a good dump with the right md5sum and I've had the issue on 2 different original wiis using a usb stick on one and an sd card on another both using r261 (I've had this same issue since r176 and haven't tried with newer versions yet.) Both the usb and sd card were fat formated with a cluster size I don't know. I know that other people have reported this before and that some haven't been able to reproduce it. Below I have what usually triggers it for me, but maybe it has more to do with hardware?
The audio cutouts happens to me when playing vs. mode with friends most of the time.
To go into a bit more detail about it, based on my casual observation it affects music in stages, the CSS, along with the music that plays when characters win the match. The songs play for around a second, but then stop. I've never noticed any sound effects get cut off. I've also noticed that it gets more likely to happen over long play sessions (30-40 minutes+) and seems to disproportionately affects stages that get loaded twice in a row.
We play on the 6 different stages on random (the legal ones) and with a variety of characters. To fully test this issue it seems imperative to load up many different stages with different music, win with different characters, exit mid match, and test on both wii and wiiu.

I personally would be very happy to dump logs if any would be useful, along with trying different filesystems (does nintendon't support other formats?) and cluster sizes if that seems like it would be a good thing to test. I just need some input on what needs to be tested and would love to have this resolved on my end or in the loader. Thanks.

logs wont say anything about audio drops you would need an usb gecko to see the code and when it happens but i could never get this to happen to me tbh, maybe try other ssbm versions?1.01 or 1.02 or something along those lines.

I wonder if that was the point of game streaming
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    But it's a dead end
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@Psionic Roshambo, people who cant download it can still play the game
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
If your internet speeds are fast enough. Streaming 4k takes alot. I used to only have 20mb sec, and 4k struggled. Now I have 300mb sec and 4k plays fine.

@BigOnYa, why did you start saying my pc has a hamster in the first place?

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

also @BigOnYa im making some progress on my gdevelop project, implemented various mechanics

They went all in on streaming, should have been more of a hybrid approach

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
