Uh, I don't think it takes 2 years to develop an optical drive emulator to play "backups", even if you were really terrible at doing so. Especially since, yes, the WiiKey is a thing that they made. However, as far as we know, The WiiKeyU is a fake/abandoned by now.Isn't Wiikey itself legit though? Why would they lie about that? I don't doubt that whatever they're advertising doesn't exist but it kinda seems odd.
Is there any way to play games without updating? I'm trying to play Mario Kart 8, but every time I try to play, it tells me to update. When I press cancel it just exits completely and doesn't start the game. I'm also unsure why it forced me to update to 5.1.0 when I first got Mario Kart 8 because people are saying here that it has 4.1.0 on it
It's very likely that they updated it to include the new patches (both with MK8 and 5.1.0). It's still safe to update since we still have code execution on 5.1.0, but I wouldn't recommend updating past that.
Can you report back if it has an updated version of MK8 on it?
Eh, it's not like it will matter much. Once the kernel exploit is finished then we can move on to finding another browser bug, so in theory it should only be a delay, not a barrier.Doesn't really seem all consoling to those who went to 5.2.0
I currently have 5.1.0 from when I first got Mario kart 8 but it wants me to update again. It has no internet connection so I don't even know how it knows there's a new versionIt's very likely that they updated it to include the new patches (both with MK8 and 5.1.0). The update is on the disk.I currently have 5.1.0 from when I first got Mario kart 8 but it wants me to update again. It has no internet connection so I don't even know how it knows there's a new version
The disk has a lower version though... I can't downgrade it can I? I have 5.1.0 currently and it wants me to update to play any gameThe update is on the disk.
So I got stealth updated to 5.3.0, how fucked am I?
May I inquire as to why the connection settings weren't deleted?
I also wonder what if you updated to 5.3.0 with homebrew and an ISO loader installed? Brick?
I know the big FAQ guide says you should stay TOPS on 5.1 but I read a topic where a guy asks if anything happens when he upgrades to 5.2 (or.3) and someone replies that it's fine.
In the end by upgrading to 5.2/5.3 will you lose Wii ISO loading?
I need to update in order to use Smash with Amiibos.
I'm starting to get the hang of it so cafe mode homebrew equals all the stuff that was made for the Wii (emulators and such) and those things cannot be run currently (like said in the FAQs, never install a Wii .elf or .dol or whatever) but could in the future, and Return of the Jodi and HC are hacked into vWii mode and that's it?
Wait, is it safe to update to the latest system menu version of wii u if my wii u has the homebrew channel installed (in vwii mode)
While it won't touch vWii, it may make it harder for the exploit to work on 5.3.0.
