This is great for homebrew! The only downside is that this only meets 1/3 of the three things I want from homebrew, as I'm pretty sure the other two require Kernel level stuff to work right.

1) Region Free!

2) In-game high quality screenshots!

3) Playing non-avi videos, and playing videos for more than ten minutes!

Homebrew is open source development which will/can increase sales. So Nintendo, just remain quiet so you can gain some money off of this. :)

nintendo doesn't really stand to gain any money from this. the exploit in question has been patched for over a year. this means any new systems can't use it, so it isn't going to push new systems into the hands of consumers. it will just give some current owners the opportunity to make a quick buck reselling their exploitable console.

Aw, I guess no HBC for me in the near future, as my 3DS XL is on firmware version 5.1.0-11u:sad:. Perhaps there is still hopes yet for my normal sized 3DS as it is on firmware 2.2.0-4u.

It has been historically challenging to obtain console development tools. There is the approval process, then the high cost of development hardware and software. I read about one guy that locked himself in his room for an extended period trying to force Nintendo's hand to get a CTR dev kit, to no avail. There are not enough indie developers authoring for the 3DS, and so the experiences we share here may lead to future opportunities. An aspiring console game dev has to start somewhere, why not here on gbatemp.

Amazing.
I can hardly (but will have to) wait for more progress to be shown.
I'm super excited about where this will lead lol

technically no, cuz you need FW 4.x and they produce now 3ds's with FW 5.x or higher..

BUH-BYE Gateway! As some as some decent custom firmware comes out, we can put all these shady overpriced flashcarts and their bricking drama exactly where they belong... In the dustbin.
Talk about a dreamer. Unless you're personally close to releasing that "decent custom firmware," we're likely still years out.

I tried making chocolate lava cakes the other day in cupcake pan, what a mess, my lava exploded out of the cakes everywhere while baking, was still ok tho, just no lava inside.

We had our grandkids over yesterday and I got a small above ground swimming pool I filled for them to play in. Well today I woke to find 3 ducks swimming around in it. Don't mind really but they are annoyingly loud, quack quack. Gotta drain it today. Guess what were having for dinner, lol.

I used butter instead of vegetable oil, and think that's why they squirted out during baking, who knows
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
yeah i think oil is the right call

  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
plus if you're making brownies or lava cakes for people with dairy allergies, you should use oil instead of butter anyway

I make rum cake for 4th July every year, I make it a week prior and then soak it in rum in the fridge all week. I flip the cake each day, and add little more rum, it soaks it up everyday, so good.
