My backup HDD is formatted in WBFS. For some reason I want to change to FAT32.

Are there any benefits? I use the HDD only for Wii game backups, no homebrew.

Is it hard to convert? I guess WBFS Manager can transfer all my games to another drive, but how do I change to FAT32 and convert back?

Also, some games are very big (MPT for example), how do I "split" it?

Many questions. Sorry about that. Maybe I'd just stay on WBFS?

FAT32 is more stable and doesn't fragment as easily. Not to mention WBFS cannot be recovered in Windows if something goes wrong. The files themselves can be WBFS format, but the drive can be FAT32 just fine. The files will get split automatically with the backup program you use for the Wii games (like Wii Backup Manager or Wii Backup Fusion). Back up the ISO images before you change the the file system :P

Ok, so I extract/backup the ISO images with WBFS Manager, then format to FAT32, then just copy them over? How will the big ISO's be split when I just copy?

FAT32 has a limit of 4 GB for files, so anything bigger will be split into two. If the ISO images are on the HDD, they won't be bigger then 4 GB in WBFS form, if you put them on an NTFS HDD for Windows and you convert them, they'll be their normal size. If you can, use the program to transfer them to your PC.

Muyfa666, why not using wbfs2fat ?

It can convert a WBFS partition to a FAT32 partition in a few seconds...and you don't have to copy/format anything. What else do you need ? :moogle:
(it also automatically splits games bigger than 4GB)

Tnx guys! wbfs2fat and the Wii Backup Manager did the trick! Now I'm at FAT32 and loving it. Just waiting for my Y-split USB cable to run this bad boy with vWii. :-)

Can Wii backup manger extract wbfs files that are on the Wii's FAT32 drive back into ISO's much like WBFS manager can even if the files are split?

some of the best selling games on the switch are wii u ports (that are priced way too high

$60 for a game that's a decade old might be unheard of on PC but actually is not uncommon on consoles

especially Nintendo because they only ever lower the price of games when they do a greatest hits/platinum hits/players choice re-release

@The Real Jdbye, and the HD collections released for 7th gen consoles too

but they don't seem to have done any of those for the switch yet and maybe never will

@The Real Jdbye, tbh the HD collections are more justified since they include more than just 1 game per copy

@Xdqwerty, Non-binary people are those who don't identify themselves exclusively as male or female.
