hi since the wii u's launch i had alot of unanswerd questions, & concerns about a few things, im sure lots of others may also & would like to know. so i decided to make this post. seeing there's no other place to find these answers.
some things i can confirm from testing on my wii u.
other things homebrew related.
as for a few other notes, it may be possible in the future that we will be able to merge old & new account data on the phone today i was told by a rep that there looking into that.
some things i can confirm from testing on my wii u.
- Q: is it possible to change a nintendo network id name?
A: no, it could be possible but in the future but for now everyone giving me a no.
(tho i would like to talk more with an actual nintendo admin rather than a nintendo cs rep to further confirm this)- Q is it possible to change DOB of nintendo network id?
A: yes, the options not on the console, you need to call nintendo, i had to because i mistakenly put the wrong dob on my previous account & they fixed it asap, (you would need to speak with a nintendo admin tho) some of the default customer service people didn't seem to know what what to do.- Q: is it possible to remake a ninetndo network id with the same name after deleting your old one?
A: no, not at the current moment. maybe in the future but for now no.- Q: does deleting your account (that you used for wii>wii u transfer) delete your wii data transfer?
A : no, your wii data seems to be on the console, not on an account.- Q: does deleting the account (used to purchase/download wii u ware) delete the wii u ware?
A: no your wii u ware is still playable & downloadable as long as you don't delete the nintendo network id used to purchase. (if you delete the nintendo network id used to purchase such wii u ware then you would have to repurchase on that account.)- Q: can i use the same email on multiple nintendo network ids?
A: i was told by a nintendo rep over the phone no, but that seems to be false because you seem to be able too.- Q: what about miis? if i delete the account (used to make such mii) will such mii be deleted?
A: seems like no, your miis are safe, unless you delete all of your accounts. does seem to delete the user mii tied that account tho so change it before deleting if you want to keep.- Q: can more than 1 nintendo network id on a console use the deluxe digital promotion?
A: yes, you need to have purchases on each account tho. (as in money not demos)
(also note is seems deluxe digital promotion doesn't share data between accounts, so if you buy something on 1 account & something else on another then they wont be on the same promotion)
(only way around this & getting everything on 1 deluxe digital promotions seems to be deleting that old nintendo network id & rebuying everything on 1.)
(note: you want to use 1 tho because you cant rack up on points using more than 1 account to buy games)- Q: does none nintendo branded wii lan adapters work on wii u?
A: yes, i tested/used a rocketfish wii lan adapter before.- Q: do i have to unlink my club nitnendo account before deleting a nintendo network id/account?
A: not necessarily but recommended, on my 1st wii u account i linked my club ninetndo in eshop & forgot to unlink it before deleting that account. i wasn't able to log into my club ninetendo because it was linked to the old one still... & i couldn't log into m account because i deleted that nnid. the next day tho it seems it was unlinked for me the next day i logged into my club nintendo on eshop perfectly on new account.
other things homebrew related.
- Q: does a homebrew channel wii effect the wii>wii u transfer?
A: doesn't seem to everything transferd perfectly, my wii has letterbomb hack, i use it for wii homebrew development.- Q: will the wii>wii u transfer transfer homebrew channel & the letterbomb hack to wii u wii channel?
A: no, just your other wii data, saves, wiiware, virtual console stuff.
as for a few other notes, it may be possible in the future that we will be able to merge old & new account data on the phone today i was told by a rep that there looking into that.
