Misc DS games online without having latest firmware?

i was wondering if it is possible to play ds games online in 3ds without having the latest firmware..?

the reason is..the r4 cards available here in india does not support the 4.4 firmware..my 3ds xl is in 4.2..!!

Regular ds games will work fine online without updating. The 3ds doesn't auto update. It always asks you if you want to update first.

1. Yes, ds games have nothing to do with firmware but 3ds games do.
2. No it won't.

DS games play on wi-fi regardless of 3DS version,
And it won't auto-update, but it will pester you every time you go to home menu.

If you wanna disable the nintendo notifications for the new update go to the SpotPass settings and disable the two options there.
