Hi and no, the update will come tomorrow when hopefully subtitles work with embedded fonts.
I'm here to share my opinion about the recent updates at Filetrip. As you may know, everytime you download a file there now it downloads an installer for the file you want to download filled with toolbars and that crap. I see that they need ads to be able to host all those files but personally I hate that and I don't wanted to see my applications bundled with such an annoying and uncomfortable installer. I know there's still a direct-download method, but it's well hidden and the regular download starts anyway.
That's why i'm going to delete all my files at Filetrip and start distributing the binaries over DropBox and/or MediaFire, while the Source-Code will stay at the site I posted already. Additionally I'm going to polish up my starting post again because with these changes it will be the mainpage of my Converter again.

Here is the latest Version 2.4.3 hosted at Dropbox for now: Download

TL;DR: No more Filetrip, look here for new Downloads, starting tomorrow.
You could at least us Filetrip for backup, just in case those links go dead.

Nope, no more Filetrip until something changes there.
But I've just remembered another great platform for Open-Source-Projects: SourceForge! I think that's a good solution for now where all files should be permanently online.

I've already uploaded the new 2.5 Beta there with all the new features. No 3D-Conversion and Progressbar for now, but that will come during the next days. Please test it out because I expect many new bugs.
Download it here.

The changes seem to be off and on at random with files. Take it up with Site Discussions & Suggestions then.

Isn't the would point conversion? How and what would we be testing?

Testing would be simply converting your videos and reporting any errors. Sorry it's 2D only for now but 3D will come back soon. (Maybe tomorrow)

I'd love to test, but... there's no test option (convert x seconds). I do not want to do a full convert just to test because my laptop takes around 1.5hrs of the video duration. Suffice to say, it takes too long just for a test run.

I really hope that option pops up.

EDIT: Okay, tested it. Output had a black border on all sides, and only the first clip came out (I was expecting many, since it's an anime film). File name was NIN_01, which means I still have to add two zeroes to it. Would be kind of annoying for working with multiple clips. Audio is fine, subs are there (yes! very clear too, and just the right size). The subs look great, and I was surprised that it supported advanced subs, like those fancy subs that had their own font and placement (the movie I was using used those, and when Japanese text appeared, a sub appeared relatively near to it). So that's a definite plus. Problem is, it picked the first option for both -- and both audio and subs had French up first, with English second. Naturally, it came up with French audio and French subs (which, oddly, didn't match, but that's source related).

So yes, we'll need that selector. But for the most part, it would work just fine for MKVs that have English audio/subs set as default, or those with only one audio/sub.

Also, it apparently does not clean up after itself? It made a 2GB video file inside its directory, which I'm guessing is a pre-conversion that gets chopped up later. In my instance, it did not get chopped up; I only got the first 10 minute clip (and it's exactly 10:00, not 9:59 like what SifJar's converter does). I dunno what happened there, maybe part of it's my bad. I didn't touch any other settings, except the number of cores.

I still have to try the output on my 3DS. There are just things I noticed from the overall process.

I hope that helps. That's what I noticed for the most part though.

@[member='ferofax']: Thanks, I figured out some of those bugs already, but some are new to me. I still don't know what's causing the naming errors, but I will take a look into it. And about cleaning up files: Yeah, i forgot to reenable that line of code when i published it. Also I forgot to display the Preview-button since I usually edit the code to test it. Good to hear subtitles work for you, although subtitle selection is needed.

I made another Update just now and it reenables 3D, Fixes the Progressbar and adds a Preview-Mode which converts only the first 5 Minutes of any Video.

Oh yeah, with the new conversion system I think can do Top-Down very easily again. Somehow forgot that.
And about the stopping conversion: This should occur everytime when the renaming gets messed up.

Can't browse. Only can drop. 3d didn't work with a converted 2d to 3d video I did. It came out as 2d. Maybe that's my fault tho.

Is the name meant to be _01 _02 _03 etc as a output?

Oh, baby yeah! @[member='NekuSoul'], you are golden!

I'm staring at an anime I converted, and by the gods, it is a beauty! The subs work wonderfully, and I think you nailed it! I haven't tried it yet on an MKV with multiple audio/subs, but that's easier now that you've added a Preview mode!

I'll test that and then I'll try a 3D video soon. This thing is really shaping up. Thanks, man. :)

Technically it is a video player...

I guess you already understand what I mean.
A video player that loads videos from SD card,
at 60 fps and even 3D videos.
Where would you even get 60fps videos?

BDRips
Oh, TS format? Or BDrips converted to MKV or something like that? Can those containers/formats do 60fps?

I'm sorry, 60fps videos are pretty new to me. I suppose those would be sweet though. I'm not even sure if rips from BluRays are TS format (that might be the file system instead). Also, I imagine the bitrates for 60fps 3D videos would be... monstrous, to say the least. I've done a 3D conversion once where the clip ended up with 14000+ kbps bitrates (7000+ bitrate per video stream), and although the 3DS was able to play it, it was extremely choppy. You'd need serious quality on your SD card for that.

BDRips at 60 fps are really hard to find because of it's ultra big size.
For bd-rip, I normally use h264 as video codec,
and AAC 5.1 as audio codec, all packed on a mkv file.

But a BDRip downscaled to 400x240,
and using just stereo sound wouldn't be that big.
I'd definetly love to see Avatar in 3D in my 3DS.
About size and data transfer, my 32gb class 10 SD can handle that.

To say the truth 30 fps are okay,
but it's sad to be limited to just 20fps.
If Nintendo release a real player, that support mutiple formats,
3D videos, and at least a descent framerate I would be happy.

...I downloaded the HD 1080p trailer of Monster Hunter 4 and converted that.

It's 30fps. So no, we are certainly NOT limited to 20. It mostly depends on the source. Although... I did convert that using SifJar's converter (NekuSoul's was still in the works during that time). I'll certainly try it out today, lemme just check if I still have the mp4 I got.

If you can get a 60fps clip somewhere, try it and see if the output is still 60fps.

@[member='ferofax']: Good to hear, I think the new conversion method was already worth it because it makes changes sooo much easier for the future. I also should thank you and every other one that help me finding bugs and suggesting features.

@60fps-thingy:
There are no serious 60fps-Movies/Series/Other things at the moment because people say it does look cheap with 60 FPS. To lazy to find sources, was in german anyway.

Edit: Currently uploading Beta 3. It fixes naming issues and videos longar than 10 mins.
