I have an older 4.3 Wii I modded with the LetterBomb hack. I installed DarkCorp 1.1, which lets me play DVD-R backup games with no problem. My problem is, MPlayer & WiiMC will only play DVD-R movies. Any Retail or DVD+RDL won't play? DVD-R play fine. I've installed the WiiMC IOS202. Of course I didn't try every DVD+RDL I own, but a copy of Stand By Me I have on DVD+RDL plays??? Any solution to this problem? THANKS

nope, your wii is too new to read dvd's games cd's are coded different the dvd's that why darkcorp works on game dvd's. but will not work on movie dvd's.
best bet ,dump your movies to hd. then watch through wiimc.( this is the way i do it, an never had problems .)

That's a load of BS. If a wii can play games from a DVD-R it should be able to play movies from DVD.
It's not surprising that DVD+Rs don't work but retail movies should be fine.

Plus he even said he could play burnt movies from a DVD-R. So WiiMC can at least read some DVDs.

With MPlayer CE you need to use base 60. The WiiMC installer uses base 57 which won't work for playing DVD's in MPlayer CE. I don't know why that's the case, but I can confirm it first hand. Download this from ModMii:
202[60]v5.1 rodries mod

With WiiMC, you shouldn't need any cIOS provided you have IOS58 installed and are loading it from the latest HBC, with the tag in the meta.xml (it's there by default when you download WiiMC).

For DVD's he should even need IOS58 (IOS61 should work just as well) on WiiMC, but that's not working, so I think he should try MPlayer CE with a correct base.

Why would that make any difference if it can already play DVD movies from burnt discs?
I don't know why WiiMC isn't working, but I know MPlayer CE won't work with his current setup. The truth is I don't have high hopes for this fixing it simply because it doesn't work in WiiMC, but it's good to eliminate what we know would cause problems. An alternative would be for him to uninstall IOS202 since (I think) IOS58/IOS61 should still play DVD's when using AHBPROT, but I didn't think about it.

Btw, can you provide any insight into why DVDs don't work when using base 57 on MPlayer CE? I know it worked fine for WiiMC back when it used 202. It was a little annoying because WiiMC wouldn't work unless you used it's official IOS, but MPlayer CE wouldn't play DVD's unless I used base 60 or 38+60.

I get the same result with MPlayer & WiiMC, they don't play in either. If it is an ios problem, why would DVD-R play but not the dual layer or retail dual layer? I'll try installing 202[60]v5.1 rodries mod suggested by JoostinOnline. I'll post my result.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.
