Replaced the those climbing vines now:
[snip]
That looks awesome! Looks like a lot of tedious work. Patch?

I might release a patch once Im done and happy about skyloft.
There are some textures that Im not 100% pleased with.

Also releasing only the vines - I have no idea if that change will affect all vines in the game, or just the ones in Skyloft.
Im gonna look into that once Im done in Skyloft.

Mind sharing how you exported as .obj and imported into 3ds Max properly?

I use Brres viewer and export the models as .md5mesh. Brawlbox .obj gave wrong UW-coords for me and didnt add the texture files properly. brresviewer's .md5mesh works right away (as you can see on a very early picture I posted in this thread, was a simple import and render)

edit: AHA! I finally found where that texture I was asking about belongs! Its part of the windmills :)

Heres a high quality render from brres viewer.
All the small objects and foliage are missing though. You can only render 1 model at a time in brres viewer.
Basicly what I have left to do is all the buildings, rocks and fences (the simple wooden fences are replaced).

Lucif3r, I think a side-by-side of the new and old SkyLoft would help, but I looked at doombringer's model he had screens of and I'm loving the brighter colors on yours!

I updated the OP; MUCH easier to compress/decompress now thanks to Barubary's DSDecmp.exe
The LZ77 compression used is type 0x11, and GBALZSS recompressed it as type 0x10. I'm not sure if that could have been causing the game to break for some of the things, but definitely give it another shot now!
Just drag the file onto LZ11.exe and type 0 to decompress or 1 to compress. The old file is replaced with the new de/compressed file.

You know if you guys use Riivolution, you can put these hacks on an SD card and turn them on or off, all you need to do is match the name of the folders on the SD card to the ISO directory and put the modded files in, and Riivolution will make the game load those files instead

I'd very much like to see the game re-textured to look like Twilight Princess, I'm not joking when I say the way the game looks now gives me a headache, I can't play it for more than 20 minutes at a time :( everything is too blurry

Using Riivolution is easy, basically all you need is the ID of the game, like Super Smash Bros Brawl is RSBE01 or something like that, if you can tell me what it is for SS then I can make up an XML that will replace the files in the game with the ones in the SD card, I'll even test it out for you, if I run into problems I know where to contact the Riivolution team

The problem is then you:
1) Can't use it on Dolphin
2) Have the actual disc, and not a loader, making it much slower.

[/quote]Riivolution would be a great tool to use for this kind of thing. Much better than ISO replacement, imo. I know Aaron (AerialX) from Riivolution as well; we worked together to replace Guitar Hero III images. The ID for the game is SOUE01.

I seem to lack extracted copies of the unmodified files, and I cba to decompress them atm :P
I think the biggest difference between mine and doom's version is that he tries to improve the original textures, while I actually replace them and try to squeeze as much details as possible into them.

Oh, and Ive also made a discovery regarding higher res. textures. You can increase the size of the smaller textures up to 512x512. Anything above that gets auto downscaled (therefore my 1024x512 tunic got downscaled).
I dont really fancy converting all textures to 512x* though, as it will put extra stress on the Wii. But a few textures per level is fine.

szs modifier still wont read it.
Redownload and just use the .bat file. That will work perfectly. Sorry about the trouble!
I had this problem too, but now when I use the bat, it says syntax error, and then it deletes the original file, replaces it with a temp file, and then when I drag the temp file in the command, it says syntax error and the temp file gets deleted.

Is this one of the bat files I made?

JoostinOnline, you want to take a look at LZ11.bat in the OP? It's working fine for me...

You need the DSDecmp.exe and LZ11.bat in the same folder as ObjectPack.arc.LZ (or whatever file you're trying to decompress) and then drag it onto LZ11.bat

All it does is read in the file, decompress it into filename.temp, delete the old file, and rename the decompressed one to the old filename.

I had this problem too, but now when I use the bat, it says syntax error, and then it deletes the original file, replaces it with a temp file, and then when I drag the temp file in the command, it says syntax error and the temp file gets deleted.
I could duplicate the "syntax error" when I put a space in the filename... make sure there are no spaces. Which file are you trying to decompress?

No spaces. I'm trying to do ObjectPack.arc.lz

Ah... I bet there's a space in one of the folders in the directory.

Ex.: C:\Users\Summersett\Skyward Sword\...

"The syntax of the command is incorrect.
ObjectPack.arc.LZ.temp decompressed! File name remains the same.
Press any key to continue . . ."

I fixed it. Redownload LZ11.zip (version 1.1): http://www.mediafire.com/file/otc4cra4wwdw0sc/LZ11.zip

It would be so awesome if the same things could be done with the controls. Replace the crappy wii motion plus controls entirely with gamecube controls.

Rolf, yea good luck with that :)
How are you planning on doing directional cuts? And I dont just mean up/down/left/right.
Anyway, even if its possible (which it probably is) no one will do it. Because that would require you to recode almost the entire game. And without the source thats a fucking nightmare.

And even if someone is stupid enough to do that, dont expect it to be done within a year from now.
