Help! Last night I was playing Mario Kart 8 with mods on from sdcaffine but I had to do something so I left the room, but when I came back the Wii U had turned off automatically from not being played for an hour. When I came back this morning to test some more mods I downloaded, the Wii U showed the the first picture below and then got stuck on the second picture attached. At first I tried turning it on and but it still got stuck on the screen, then I unplugged the Wii U for a few minutes and plugged it back in. It still was stuck on the screen but when I did the same thing without the sd card, It loaded the Wii U menu, but when I put the sd card back in and turned off the Wii U, it got stuck on the screen again. Doing the same plug trick again it would start working again but I still can’t use my sd card. I even tried using sd caffeine again and going back on Mario kart but that just crashed my Wii U. Does anyone know how get my sd card working again, It still works inside a computer.

Are you using Aroma or Tiramisu?

Run a file system check on your SD card, once you made sure that is clean you should be able to just rename the wii u folder on the sd card and copy the fresh tiramisu / aroma files back. To the SD.

If you are using aroma I would guess that some save file from the homebrew_on_menu plugin corrupted. So instead of replacing the whole wiiu folder, you might just try to rename the homebrew_on_menu_plugin folder in the wiiu folder and see if that helps.

Also are you sure the Wii U was left alone and it was auto-shutdown? No kids or anything who could have walked into the room? Cause this shouldn't corrupt anything, for me it sounds more like someone really did a 4 button power press (or removed the wall power).

Perhaps you have one of those SD cards that isn't official, and is lying about how much content it can hold. (These things were everywhere on the likes of even Amazon back when larger storage SD cards weren't nearly so cheap). If this is the case, you might have put a little too much extra content on the SD card with whatever latest mods you were putting on it, pushing it past the actual amount of content it can hold and then corrupting the contents in the SD card.

Have you tried putting the SD Card back into your PC to see how your files and folders look? I would start there.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
