September 2012 This is right in the suspected timeframe. Could you create a NAND Backup and check it with wfs-extract?

We can backup the NAND parts individually? For example, only the SLC. Then only the MLC? Or do we have to do the whole thing at once?

Might be easier to do it in parts if you're doing it over FTPiiUE?

I am attempting to download just the slc and mlc at the moment. So far, no transfer errors.

Edit: SLC completed fine.
Edit2: I checked the SLC logs, and the only mentions of MEDIA ERROR are for the SD card. There are no corruption errors.

The MLC dumped, and the only errors were related to dumping files from what appears to be New Super Mario Bros. U update data.

If I launch NSMBU, though, everything works fine, so that's bizzare. There is also no way that the update data actually contains all of these files, as, uh, it's only 79MB. The actor folder on its own should be 132MB...

EDIT: After further investigation and extracting this update locally on my computer, it seems that the files that fail to transfer are just packs of zeroes (unchanged?) in the update; all the files that do not fail from this folder have actual content in them. Maybe that's why it fails? But if so, then FTPiiU's not the perfect tool to be checking this with, as this seems like a false negative.

If the above is the case, which I suspect it is, then the MLC dumped fine. I will check this again when the SD card arrives.

@SDIO, what happens if you power on your console without the sd card that replaced the emmc? Does the blue light stays on, or is it blinking? Do you still get video on the tv? Maybe you also know how the console behaves when the slc is dead/blank/removed.

@K3Nv2, Exactly. Take note of the Switch, for example. Its underpowered compared to how older tech was capable of doing just about anything.

I think my favorite PS1 enhancement is sub pixel precision, helps get rid of some of those wobbly polygons lol

@Psionic Roshambo, By default, the polygons are filtered with differing to simulate depth, which doesn't make them clearer.

There are ways to disable this by creating cheat codes, but this requires knowledge of the PS1 hardware.
